Re:Study Buddy
does your computer boot up still and if so where does it get to and what error does it say onscreen?
do you have a boot floppy disc, what windows was you putting on, was it the actual operating system and if so what version and what version was you going from and how did you remove the old version or did you buy a newer version and upgrade from newer CD?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
omg j how am i supposed to know that?
it already had windows xp but my cousin deleted all microsoft off it so i put it back on!!!
it switches on comes up with a black screen with loads of writing on it, it gives u options like safe mode normal windows setup last configuration goes to the xp screen then flashes bk to the black screen again (sorry not very good discription but best i can do)0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Oh oh, I hate seeing that screen!

Re:Study Buddy
Try having the CD Drive as the first point of boot-up, for this you'll need to go into your BIOS screen by pressing the Del key or F2 key or whetever key it tells you to press to enter the BIOS screen on start-up.
Once in there, youll need to have a route about using the arrow keys to find something headed Boot-Up, and in there change it from booting from HDD 1st to the CD being 1st.
If THAT fails
I think I know where you're up to...
although I have only ever done this once is ther an option to just proceed? if so choose that one and hopefully it will stay on a blank black screen with a white arrow flashing so you can type, you need to have the letter that your CD drive normally is.
You'll currently be in the C:\ drive so you need to change this so you are comming your PC to carry out the actions from the G:\ (CD Drive) now I am hoping someone else can help me out here as I cannot remember how to switch from HDD to CD - it's only a few key presses and it's something like g:\ {enter}
then once the line starts with the letter G (or your CD Drive) type the follow
run setup.exe
hopefully that will locate the file on teh CD and start the install.
if that fails ah well - i'm all out of ideas without actually having the thing in front of me...0 -

Re:Study Buddy
It gave me a chuckle anyway! When I woke up this morning we had about two inches of snow - probably the first time in ten years that we've had that much! Seriously, we hardly get it down this way 'cos of the Sussex downs and the warm sea air!
So when I got to work I put it in four wheel drive and had a quick play in the snowy car park since mine was only about the third car there. After a few slides I parked up next to another 4x4, which I thought was pretty straight parking for the conditions.
It was only when I got in my car at three o' clock this afternoon and saw that all the other cars had moved post thaw and that mine was the only one left parked askew. It looked really funny 'cos I'm actually parked wonkily over four different spaces! Excellent!

Re:Study Buddy
And I bet every man who saw it parked thought "women parkers!!"
Sorry Robert, but I don't think it's a very good advert to say it costs a fortune to run if you want to sell it - especially on an accountants web
(See other thread) Even if you did have fun this morning. Men and their toys

Re:Study Buddy
Yes, it does cost a bomb to run but I bet I was probably the only bugger on the road who managed to drive uphill on our extremely icy street this morning!!!
Probably first time it's ever seen proper snow and ice but it did an admirable job!
So for anyone who lives on snow and ice covered hills, the price has just doubled thanks to Helen and Jan!
Oh, and as for parking between the white lines thing Helen on t'other thread, I couldn't see them since they were covered in snow hence the woman like parking!

Re:Study Buddy
Just because you can't see them, they are still there, you know!
Don't you carry a little shovel?

Re:Study Buddy
good morning all,
woohoo computer working again

Re:Study Buddy
Swiftly diverting away from the potential women vs men drivers debate, may I say well done to Katie for getting her computer working again.
There I was this morning expecting at least 3 inches of snow (so dictated the Met Office) and what did I wake up to? Nothing.
Had it snowed that 'much' then I guess the South East would've ground to a halt.
Good morning everyone.0
