Anyone else as fed up as I now am
VAT - one vile VAT return left to do, with chap trying to put everything for house extension through the business
Tax - 5 waiting for signing; 3 waiting for accounts approval and still waiting for one load of books.....
As my kids (and Catherine Tate) would say -
"regardez ma visage, suis-je bovvered?"
Actually, no, I don't give a stuff any more.
How's everyone else getting on?

Re:Fed Up?
Kinda deflated.
All VAT returns done (hoorah)..
Final set of company accounts due for submission at the end of month sent to client today..
Waiting on about 8 tax returns to come back from clients..
Waiting on 3 clients who I know will get me their information shortly..
Given up on 3 more who after constant reminding havn't even had the decency to respond..
No panic this year and am already dreading the jobs that I have put to one side to prioritise the tax returns.
But hey ho.. no-one gets into accountancy for the fun of it!

Re:Fed Up?
You've got clients who haven't given you the info yet???
Are they the same clients who will complain if they get the late filing penalty when they bring you the info on 30th January
Clients - gotta love them0 -
Re:Fed Up?
Our tax partner has informed us that as traditionally "subbies" are often put on hold pending receipt of further info or lost CIS vouchers, due to the refunds they receive and therefore the £100 penalty being waived, HMRC are now looking to waive the £100 penalty, as normal, but still charge the £60 a day late filing fee which will not be stood over in the event of submission of a late tax return showing a nil payment or refund.
I don't think it will apply to this year, but I'm sure as the filing deadlines are about to change, more stringent rules are about to be put in place to try and force everyone to file on time.
Has anyone noticed the bill-boards advertising a great big red 31 January and the reminder to send in your SA return?
Kind regards
Steve

Of course! You seem surprised.. :?
They are well aware that it is their fault if they get a penalty so they wouldn't dare raise that one with me!
To be honest, I think they see the £100 as a deadline extension fee rather than a penalty. Which is fine by me.
As Steve suggests, HMRC are well aware that the £100 is not much of a deterrent.0 -
Re:Fed Up?
We have just had someone bring in two carrier bags full of paper!
How long has HMRC had the advert going on the television and radio?0 -
Re:Fed Up?
I had someone on the phone today panicking having just heard the advert - so I asked if hadn't heard it on the radio/seen it on the telly before now - well yes, but it didnt really occur to me......
In fact as he only went s/e last April it doesnt affect him but some people hey......

Re:Fed Up?
Apparently the 2 bags of paper contained the wrong year!!
Some people whole heartedly deserve the £100 fine.0 -
Re:Fed Up?
Why do so many people leave it to the last minute. I do try to emphasise that they won't have to pay their tax any earlier, they will just know in advance what it is going to be, but do they listen?..no.
Well I have just two to finalise - maybe they will be in by the 31st - if they hurry with the final information.
Then there is just one other who hasn't yet contacted me, despite reminders.
Not so bad this year!0 -
Re:Fed Up?
you all sound very organised - i've still got 4 VAT returns and 6 tax returns to finish (although all but one are started).
and claudia, i'm with you on the 'Do i look bovvered??!' comment...

Re:Fed Up?
Anyone past the finishing line yet?
My penultimate client has just emailed me her book-keeping spreadsheets (accounts and rental income - oh joy!)
My final client is promising me spreadsheets by this evening, late this evening!
I've given up on the 2 that are ignoring me.

Re:Fed Up?
i've still got 4 to go - oh yes, and mine!
the finishing line still seems a long way off, but at least i'm quite calm about it. this time last year i was psycho woman!!0 -
Re:Fed Up?
3 waiting for signing - one guy still in hospital so taking the fine and tuff.
Last bits of last VAT return just arrived.
Reasonably calm at the moment.
Jodie - hang your head in shame - physician heal thyself and all of that
