Hi all,
I'm planning on sitting 2 Tech level exams in June, but have not decided which yet.
Can someone give me a brief description of what each involves please?
Are any easier than the rest?
Which ones would follow on nicely from FRA and ECR?
I'm doing the NVQ route.

Re:Technician units
Hi PP.
There are detailed guidance notes on each unit in the 'Resource Centre'.
The units which follow on from FRA & ECR are compulsory anyway.
As options - i feel that the two tax options are the most useful, unless you want to go into auditing.

Re:Technician units
Sorry, yes that's what I meant - I want to sit 2 of the ones that are compulsory.
I plan to do both tax units.
I will look on the resource centre anyway (can't get onto student site at mo for some reason) - thanks.0 -
Re:Technician units
I've not actually done these units yet, but it would seem to make sense to do PEV and PCR at the same time as they cover similar ground.

Cool, thanks for the tip Chris!0 -
Re:Technician units
If you're not in industry or attend a college, you could do DFS which follows directly on from FRA and one of the taxation modules. As Chris said, PCR and PEV are intertwined so really need to be studied together.
Plus you could use the resource centre on here to get some tips at tackling the compulsory unit 10 - the dreaded project! (Quickly crosses himself!)

Re:Technician units
Well I HATE costing, so I might go for DFS and both tax units in June then - or just the one tax unit if I don't have to re-sit ECR!
I am in industry but am home study. I'm aiming to get AAT finished by end of 07, so need to pull my finger out and get cracking!0 -
Re:Technician units
I go to an FTC training centre & started there in September 2006. The first 2 units they done were PEV & PCR. I think these 2 compulsory units are seen to be the easier 2 in Technician. They only gave us the 3 months then we had exams in December. Where as the DFS & tax units are just about to start & we have lessons right up until the June exams - so a lot more lesson time for those!!
I hope this helps. Being a home studier you will have about the same amount of time for both exam sittings though!

Re:Technician units
Hi,
If I was you and you feel that costing are your worst subjects then I would sit PEV & PCR next, that way you build on the knowledge that you already have from ECR (some formulas are reused from ECR.
I sat DFS, PEV & PCR altogether, hopefully i have passed so I can sit my first CIMA exams in May....roll on the 20th!!!
Good Luck0 -
Re:Technician units
Hello
I agree with "AAT geek". Do PEV and PCR sooner rather than later. Costing is my worst subject too, but got them out of the way first.
On to tax now and I think I love tax!!
