Dear All,
Just wondering if someone could tell me whether you HAVE to have an accountants report attached to a set of company accounts for filing at Companies House.
I have just prepared some accounts for a friend and they have been rejected because they have no auditors report attached (its a small company - no audit!!).
I definately have all the other disclosures correct and the P&L /BS in statutory format and the Directors report correct.
Some quick advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Beccy

Re:Company Accounts for filing with Co Hse
We as a practice don't send in the accountants certificate with the abbreviated accounts. However, by Companies House referring to the auditor's report, I suspect they may think you are submitting audited accounts because of the way you have prepared them. Have you prepared the accounts for submission to Companies House in abbreviated format? You refer to the P&L and Director's report, but you would only normally include an abbreviated balance sheet and the related notes - there wouldn't usually be a directors report or P&L (in abbreviated financial statements only).
Once prepared in abbreviated format, I would contact Companies House just to clarify that the accounts are not subject to audit, and as such would not have the auditor's report.
They should then accept the accounts.

I echo everything that Steve has mentioned.
Do you have the following statement on the balance sheet:
"The director(s) are satisfied that the company is entitled to exemption under Section 249A(1) of the Companies Act 1985 and that no member or members have requested an audit pursuant to section 249B(2) of the Act"
