I shall kick this one off. No rules here, if you have an interesting piece of music trivia, share it with us all.
Mika is currently at number one with 'Grace Kelly'. This hit is a rare breed as it namechecks a Hollywood star.
Remember these?
Bette Davis's Eyes by Kim Carnes
Robert De Niro's Waiting by Bananarama
John Wayne is Big Leggy by Hayzi Fantayzee
James Dean (I Wanna Know) by Daniel Bedingfield
Are there any others? Only hit singles count, NOT album tracks.
Another piece of trivia. If the current number one where it is next week then this will be the first time we have had three consecutive number one hits spending at least a month at the top since the start of 1992.

Re:Music trivia
There's a song called Paul McCartney on Scissor Sisters new album - he's not really a Hollywood star though is he?
Great song though - one of my favourites of theirs!0 -

Re:Music trivia
Ooh - what about Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood?0 -
Re:Music trivia
Only one I can think of is The Go-Betweens - Lee Remick. Hardly a hit single but then I don't really do hit singles.
I always clain Kim Carnes as a distant cousin despite the unwonted 's'

Malcolm, I must be as old as you because I remember every one of those songs!0 -
Re:Music trivia
Cleo's link was fun - there's more there than I had imagined.0 -
Re:Music trivia
Me too apart from the Daniel Bedingfield, of which my mind has thankfully supressed the memory.bluewednesday wrote:Malcolm, I must be as old as you because I remember every one of those songs!0 -
Re:Music trivia
Malcolm, does Candle in the Wind count? - it is about Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe.

Re:Music trivia
Sorry Claudia, I meant song titles that actually had the name in them, not the subject matter.
Good call re Gorillaz, phunkyphantom. Macca doesn't count although you could stretch it and say he did star in those Beatles movies in the 60s.
Chris, I'm almost four years older than you. Annette, I shall share the same rpm speed as a single so that will tell you how old I am

Re:Music trivia
Malcolm - are you sure it is a single not an album

Sorry - only in jest - promise. Most days I feel like an album and still a couple of years until I reach a single!

Re:Music trivia
If only!!
At times though I feel like the old gramophone record speed.
Yes Paul, that will be attained later this year. If you check out the Study Buddy's calendar I am Mr October, my birth month!0 -
Re:Music trivia

Re:Music trivia
hehe, my mum was telling us a short story of the past a few weeks ago - she said she could have killed us (her lads, me and my 2 brothers) because we used her vinyls as skateboards on the kitchen floor HAHAHA, gutted now though cos they're apparently now worth an estimated ΓΒ£20 - ΓΒ£40 each! (collectors ones) unfortunately it looks like they were used as scratching posts for lions!0
