HI everyone
Just a quick note for any of you who work for or whose business is a limited company.
From the first of January 2007 all limited company websites and emails must contain the company registration number, place of registration and if VAT registered the VAT number. I wasn't aware of this until our local chamber of commerce e mailed me with the details. The website link they sent is this http://www.out-law.com/page-7594 . Not sure if any of you need (or are already aware of) this information but I hope it helps.

I wasn't aware of it, I've updated all our email signatures and will get the website amended.
I suppose if you need the info on paper stationery, an email is no different.
Thank you.

I saw this as a spam fax at work. I can't help but think that if it was true, then there would have been more "official" publicity about it.

I contacted our webdesigner and he'd also heard of it. I've updated our email templates.
Irrespective of whether it was needed, it's probably good practice to display the same details as our letterheads - especially as we use emailed correspondence regularly.0 -

I heard it here first so checked it out and it's on the Companies House website so it is true, however, the VAT number wasn't mentioned (I don't think).

Hi
That's right, the VAT wasn't mentioned and our chamber of commerce did e mail me afterwards to say that the VAT number wasn't included in this particular instance but that it was required under some other European law (sorry I can't remember now which one) but it certainly isn't spam.
I do agree that this should have been given more publicity as it does carry a possible fine for those who don't follow the new rules.
Just as well we have each other here to keep us all out of trouble hey!
