Hi, I work in the cash and bank department where I do a lot of reconcilation work on our bank accounts. I've being thinking about a topic concerning this project. but my mind keeps going blank. any Ideas will be appreciated. :roll:

    Hi Solly
    Try using procedure manual/notes in your dept that says how the reconciliation process SHOULD be carried out. (Or get hold of an audit programme on bank reconciliation which would tell you the sorts of internal controls that should be in place). Auditnet.org has some.

    Then do some research on how the reconciliation is ACTUALLY done at the moment.

    Spot any differences between what should be done and what is actually done. Use these weaknesses in the system for your project. You could recommend improvements to internal control. For example, may be theres no segregration of duties between cash book and ledger, no supervision or review by management, etc.

    Hi

    I am presently attending a private college and we have not started this project, is the college going about this the right way. What can i do. If they are not. Bear in mind we only got 1 month left until exams.

    The project can be done at any time although you are right to be trying to think of something now.

    There must be somewhere that you think can be improved, a system or procedure that you would do differently if you had the choice. That is the start of your project, if you haven't got anything then littlesaj's advice is really good.
