Unit 21 Evidence

Trying to get my head round the requirements for the evidence for this unit.
Stuff like backing up files, saving files in appropriate folders, checking VDU isn't too bright etc . . .
Will copies of company H&S plus a personal statement suffice, or do I really have to go to the department geek and ask him to write me a letter saying that I can log in to my workstateion without bring down the intranet !!!

Re:Unit 21 Evidence
I've been doing my project too, and some of the stuff really stumped me, like finding instructions for a 3 year old visual display unit :roll:0 -
Re:Unit 21 Evidence
I'm doing my portfolio too - and find some of it frankly a complete waste of time. I'm 30 years old, with a Business Degree, 8 years work experience and an NVQ in Market Research already.
Because I was exempt from Foundation I have gone straight into Intermediate, but still have to do Units 21 and 22 - I find it insulting to have to prove that I can turn on a PC, or that I have to draw a scale plan of my desk - I can understand the relevance if I was brand new to employment, but surely there should be some method of exemption from this for mature students?
BTW Ashbean - I have found the internet invaluable for finding instructions for obscure items - I've just printed off the ones for my desk fan, telephone and PC! :roll:0 -

Doesn't that mean that you have already done those units? If so can't you transfer them from one NVQ to another?

The NVQ in MR was the same level as the intermediate but I didn't do Health and Safety or Computing units for that (maybe they were covered at the NVQ 2 level, which I didn't do). I did an NVQ level 2 in Food and Drink service when I was 18 - but it's too long ago to count as evidence now
I'm studying by distance learning with BPP, and don't have any guidance at all other than the books they sent me at the start of the course (I don't have a tutor or anything). I just assumed it would be easier to complete them than to argue the toss, but having spent every lunchtime this week surfing the work intranet looking for policies etc I'm fed up of it now! I don't know what other option there is though.0 -
Re:Unit 21 Evidence
Don't the three projects have a 'timeout' limit of three years though?
I know what you mean though Miss Purple (what's your real name by the way?) by having to prove you know how to turn on a computer. I hate it when I go into places like PC World or Phones4u and the 18 year old shop assistants talk to me like I've just walked out of the arc and never seen a PC or used a mobile phone before.

Sorry - it's Danika. New to the forum and fairly new to finance! :?0 -
Re:Unit 21 Evidence
if you are doing home study with BPP you should ask them for the unit 21 and 22 booklets which gives you a set of questions and all you have to do is answer them.
email them on
simulation@bpp.com and explain you are home study etc and ask for the booklets - they are really good
hope that helps

Re:Unit 21 Evidence
I am glad Danika put it in stronger terms than I did, as I was not sure what the reaction would be!
Ie. I find it a little insulting too. I am 30, a graduate and have been in work (sales) since. I studied accounting and management with OU in my spare time to change career to accounts, and gained exemption from AAT foundation - but not 21 &22!!
How would I be able to use this forum, for example, if I wasn't aware of how to login?
Computer illiteracy is an issue that needs to be addressed, but a little common sense wouldn't go amiss. If AAT give me an IP address, perhaps I could open a port to their intranet and validate my skills digitally? I am being facicious deliberately of course, but paper evidence of a course on computer skills?
Alternativly, I will get my IT department to email me a testimony, print it out, photocopy it and fax it :roll:0
