Hey,
I am currently working through my project and have been doing really well.
Have taken the approach of going through the criteria and writting about my company, however, I have now come to one particular criteria that I am really stuck on it says "Review methods of operating regularly in respect of their cost-effectiveness, reliability and speed" now I am really confused as to what to write about this.

Can someone help me please!

Thanks

    hi Zoe

re this - i think you should be implementing say a weekly and monthly checklist.

weekly 15/20 min meeting to be updated with how staff are getting on with their tasks - how much is outstanding, and how long they think the outstanding tasks will take them - any problems they have with completing the tasks.

this meeting can also be done on a monthly with respect to month end - with respect to month end - i would tend to use the weekly meeting before month end procedures start. and i would then assess the month end procedures and how successful they were by way of the weekly meeting after the month is closed. of course your weekly meeting whilst the month end is in hand will also help to resolve any issues re problems with the methods / procedures taking place.

    reliability
use a logging system for the amount of errors found / occurred over the period 1 month? 3 months?
a batching system of invoices logged for example will enable you to discern the % of errors in relation to this.

    speed.
how many invoices are being posted in a day/week month? per individual? is the level the norm? or is their slacking in the accounts dept?

    cost effectiveness.
if mistakes are made - it costs somebody's time to correct them - either the person who originally made them - and a senior to assist them in what they need to do. or it may need a senior to spend time correcting by themselves work which a member of staff has done incorrectly - and they will then need to go back and detail to the employee how and why they went wrong - training may be needed. whilst doing this - they can't get on with the work they are needing to do.

how many hours / time has anyone member of staff involved in the correcting process taken? how much are they being paid on an hourly rate? whilst correcting the errors - they are not being productive in their current work load - another cost incurred.

Does this help to give you some ideas?

Chris :) Best of luck for tomorrow - will call to see how you got on!!!!

    Hiya,

    not long to go................

    how's the new job going?

i suspect you will be fine - am looking forward to finding out - i can then dedicate a bit more of the grey matter to the project - rather than checking my emails and the website!!!
