Hello
Congrats to those who passed and sorry to those like me who failed their PEV.
I am thinking of appealing does anyone know anyone who has been successful in this process.
Would like some feed back before I decide

Re:appeals on exams
I appealed my PCR decision last year and although I still came out with a fail, it really helped me gain insight on where I went wrong, I know I was 11% off the pass mark.
You have to decide if you want to spend the money and find out you still failed, but I think it helped me in the end.0 -
Re:appeals on exams
It's not worth it. I looked into appealing my failed PCR back in June, but it costs more than it does to resit. Anyways, if they remark it and you pass it doesn't look very good on their part, and surely anyone that fails can then say "Well if you marked there's wrong you could have marked mine wrong".0 -
Re:appeals on exams
I'm sorry Bry, I have to disagree. It doesn't cost more than a re-sit, IIRC it was £30.
I have explained the benefits above, but that's up to you.0 -

Hiya
I failed PEV as well which I am really surprised at - I came out of that exam really confident. I am going to wait until I find out if I only failed one part or both parts. if I have failed only one part then I will ask for the paper to be re-marked.0 -
Re:appeals on exams
I think the Assessors report will be worth looking at.
That usually gives some insight into problem areas.
I passed my exam and found them a useful tool for revision when read with the past papers.

Re:appeals on exams
I'm new to the forum so bear with me. :?
I failed PEV too for the 2nd time! I'm looking at the appeals process too but not sure how beneficial it will be towards whether I re-sit or not? Has anyone actually had a fail turned into a pass...I wish!0 -
Re:appeals on exams
I was going to appeal against my PCR fail in June but was told it would cost circa £48 so didn't bother?purplegirl wrote:I'm sorry Bry, I have to disagree. It doesn't cost more than a re-sit, IIRC it was £30.

Re:appeals on exams
I felt that I did very good PEV in both sections, and felt confident over all of the other exams I have done.
My letter today says I failed the first section again, I think it must be the way I set it out not the book way. I was only doing it the way I was shown at Lincoln college. I will appeal at least I will get some feed back.
Thanks for all your advice everyone0 -
Re:appeals on exams
I always read the Chief Assessors reports when marking a test paper I've attempted. They usually state what the weakest areas are and where fundamental student knowledge is lacking. For DFS, it's hardly likely to be the balance sheet or the cash flow statement since these are usually pretty simple and most people get them right. There are areas where nearly everyone struggles so you never know - you may get brownie points for getting these right and which might help in swinging a final competent/not competent decision.Baggybooks wrote:I think the Assessors report will be worth looking at.

Re:appeals on exams
Hi there,
I appealed my PCR in June and lucky for me it came back as succesful! I was so chuffed! I also failed PEV for the second time and I thought I'd done OK this time. I'm definately going to appeal because even if it comes backl unsuccessful, at least I'll know where I'm going wrong!
Good Luck!

Re:appeals on exams
I thought I done well in my PEV, but it came back a fail. I spoke to the appeals co-ordinator and he informed me that it will cost £40 to have your paper remarked, so I am going to wait and see if I done bad on both sections or on just one.0
