Hi - I've posted something on the general forum, and now it's gone.
Both mine and another thread about interview/job seeking are no longer there - is it against forum regs to discuss job hunting or something?
I put it on the general forum as it wasn't related directly to accounts, but thought that if they were removed then the header remained. How do I know if I've broke some rules or if the IT isn't working? The forum rules thread in the General Forum do say that they don't have to notify you, but no how do I know to avoid doing it again? And if it's just to far off accounts topics - and not offensive etc - then can't they move it to here?
Any Ideas?

Re:Forums
There's problems with the forum in general because they transferred it to a new server.
I had a thread that disappeared but then came back.
I think we have to bear with it - hopefully Malcolm will resolve it soon.

Re:Forums
OK, thanks.
I guess I'll just post here in future (if I remember) for anything not pure accounts...
And as it was a bit of a long post, I'll wait and see if it re-appears.
Thanks
Tori.

Re:Forums
Mine only reappeared when there was a post to it and I clicked on the link in the email.
If I viewed the forum listing, it wasn't there. So, it might have been visible to others. Very strange.
If it is a serious point, I would suggest trying the other forums.
This one seems to get lost in its own little world sometimes.

Re:Forums
Have any of you got any idea when the problems with the site will be sorted?
Kind regards.0 -
Re:Forums
Macolms prob the best one to ask - he's in touch with the teccies I think... problem being you have to catch Mal when he's either not sleeping or watching cout down! :P
Seems one problem was sorted today, in respect of the times shown as the last post on a topic.... was showing the wrong post as being the last, but that's now fixed.0 -
Re:Forums
Hello,
I'm sorry you've had problems with the Forums. Torilang, has your post reappeared?
The anomalies have occurred since the site has been moved to the new servers. I won't go into technobabble, I'll leave that to the Trekkers
but in a nutshell, the software to run the forums doesn't get on with the new servers.
Therefore, it is planned to move only the forums back to a more stable environment very soon. I don't know exactly when, but I expect it to happen before this month ends.

Re:Forums
I suggest your teccies pay the extra £5 a month to enable php services you bunch of cheap-skates! :-)
Torilang's post did reappear Malcolm.
You're on early today... what's wrong :P0 -
Re:Forums
Okay, I'll up your annual fee by £60 then Jamie
That's good that it reappeared. I think I know what one it is anyway.
Nothing wrong at all. I just like to be unpredictable. You can only take so much of Countdown in a day!!!0 -
Re:Forums
Just a suggestion but maybe doing some testing before you go live with major changes might be a good idea.
And why does my avatar keep reverting back to an old one?0 -
Re:Forums
Peter and Paul are two servers who both have the same website on it. When a user talks to Peter, another user may be talking to Paul, but are both getting identical information.
The software that runs the discussion forum can't talk to Peter and Paul at the same time, so when one user talks to Peter to use it, another user can still use Paul, but Paul has an older version which can contain older information such as old avatars and such like.
At the time, Peter must have been operating when the forums appeared to be working correctly, but without realising that Paul would lag behind.
So, in the near future, when users want to access the forum, they will be talking to Janet who will be able to handle the task effectively.0 -
Re:Forums
Because Janet is a woman and can multitask and listen to two things at the same time!0 -
Re:Forums
wrong - Janet used to be Jon. He's still part male, but wants to be both.0
