I had an awkward scenario during an inspection last year.

The compliance officer was adamanat that a subcontractor should have been employed.

We stood our ground and after a couple of lengthy meetings they found in our favour.

I must admit I was surprised at the outcome - simply because he is now employed by us under PAYE.

He'd been a subby for years and I thought they had a good case against us (not that I would tell them so!).
