Hi

Can anyone recommend a decent book about personal tax (to do own personal tax return).

The book should cover at least employment, rental and capital gains tax.

I've seen there's several general books on the market:
The Which
The Financial Times
The Daily Mail
all publish their own books on the subject.

Anyone got experience with any of these?

Thanks

    Hi Dorthe

I use two, Tolley's and FT.

I would recommend Tolley's but then I am bias towards them. To be honest they are all much of a muchness!

What year did you want? I have a spare one, Tolley's 2006/07, if that would be any help to you?

    Regards

I've found the taxbriefs guide absolutely fantastic, sometimes Tolley's are all legal speak but taxbriefs are in plain English.

I know they sometimes do it at half price for members of an associated body so you could check if AAT is one of those.

Another set I use / have access to is FL Memo. They provide a set of books on employment, tax, accounts, law and another which I can't remember off hand.

You can buy these as a set or as individual issues. These are similar to the Tolleys ones but are easier to navigate than Tolleys.
