I have a interview on Thursday doing similar to what I am doing now wages using sage for various clients. Prep work for final accounts and general office duties. At present on £6 an hour would it be to greedy to push for £6.50 or would I be pricing myself out of the job.

I started with £8 per hour in my last job, I only had one year book-keeping work experience so I don't think you are being greedy at all, but your comany should review your salary every 12 months anyway. But it really depends on your role and your area. Anyway, good luck

    Hi

The last time I went for a job interview (my present job) I asked for 50p an hour more than the person who had just left.(I was lucky in that I knew how much she had been on). My new boss thought it "sounded a bit much", but as I hesitated while I thought about it, he agreed to it! Little did he know that it was actually £1.50 per hour more than in my previous job. My theory is you can only ask, but then again it depends on how desperate you are to change jobs. I have in the past taken a pay cut in order to get the experience I wanted, but this doesn't seem to apply in your case.
As for an annual review - this doesn't always happen. I did have a job where I didn't get a pay rise in all the time I was there - and knowing the financial position of the company at the time knew one wasn't likely either. It was one of the reasons I left. In my present job I asked that my pay be reviewed after a year - I still had to remind him though and eventually got a rise. If you don't ask you don't get and the worse thing that could have happened is that he said no - in which case I would have been looking for another job.

I realise that this has come a bit late - hope the interview went well and that you got what you wanted :)
