Hi,

Can anyone please help me out. I am ready to apply for membership having received my application form today. However, I am unsure about which parts of my job would be considered admin, and which not. Can anyone give me any ideas? I work for a small construction company at present.

Thanks in advance

Paul

You don't seem to have had much response Paul - perhaps people were hoping you could think for yourself having reached this stage.

Maybe it would be easier if you thought of it the other way round - how much of the day/week do you spend on accounts work ie sale/purchase ledger/bankrec/reports/VAT return. It only has to be a rough idea, nobody is going to come and check, although you have to be honest!

I was trying to draw from others experience. I didnt know whether they were referring to final accounts.

    Dont patronise me.

    Hi Paul

It was a few years ago that I applied for Full Membership, but at the time I didn't have any experience of Final Accounts. If you feel that a percentage of your work would count more as admin than Accounts work, do you have more than two years work experience that you could get signed off to make up the difference? (I think it is two years experience they ask for?)

Hi Sue, thanks for the reply.

I have three years experience, and I think I can class over 50% as accounts work so I should be ok. Its just, I know what AAT are like with their wording!! I didnt want to mess up the application :?

Paul, I have just received my Intermediate certificate (only took 9 months) and in it they have included an application for full membership. It appears they are now thinking ahead and getting it sorted for when people finish Technician. What it is asking for is what I do in my day job, when I send it off, I will get feedback on whether it can be included as "experience", could you do that or does it have to be a "cut & dried" version immediately?

Sorry Paul, think I'm turning into a grumpy old woman today. That what it feels like now I've got into work.

I was trying to be tounge in cheek, so the rolling eyes wasn't the best to use.

Anyway I'm off for a bar of Aero - mabe that will help!

I think Paul just experienced a temporary rush of aggression from listening to Slayer too much... happens to me all the time.

Found anything else on the DVD you like? Have you listened to the Destruction tracks yet? Probably my fave thrash band of all time! Just downloaded and listening to the three brand new Black Sabbath tracks with Ronnie James Dio temporararily back on vocal duties...

I'm getting a little worried, we seem to have lots of things in common - change of careers, window industry, similar job, and I have been known to agree with your comments at times!
Not heard of the others - but Black Sabbath, now thay brings back memories.

    Cheeky mare...!

Yes I downloaded "Warning" Paul. I quite like the wordy parts - even Ozzy sounds okay - though not too keen on the very very Zeppelin-esque guitar riffs in the middle but I guess that's how rock music was back then in the early 70's.

Am feeling a bit disappointed with the three new Sabbath/Dio tracks... their "Heaven and Hell" and "Neon Knights" from 1980 were two of the greatest rock anthems ever from probably the greatest metal band ever.

    Brummies an all...

Nah, I do like (wouldn't say love though) Led Zeppelin but mostly up to and including the first four albums, even though I do own nearly all of them. The middle bit from Sabbath's "Warning" sounds very derivative of stuff from the first Led Zep album e.g. "Dazed and Confused". Zeppelin - like The Beatles - were very much products of their day and I don't subscribe to the notion that they still sound fresh and modern today 'cos they most certianly don't. Of the early to mid 70's rock giants, I always preferred Deep Purple myself - at least until they blew their legend status and reformed in the mid 80's.
