Issues surrounding the gender diversity of the Texas Teachers’ force are generally explored as part of the broader topic of gender equity. Gender equity focuses on the need for greater equity in teacher behavior towards students in the classroom and to foster higher achievement by female students, especially in mathematics and science. Increasing the number of female Texas Teachers in mathematics and science is both advocated as a strategy to increase equitable treatment of females in these disciplines and predicted as a contributor to higher achievement by females.
The need to increase the number of male Texas Teachers in schools is another facet of gender diversity. Men are under-represented in the teaching force overall, and especially in certain disciplines and grade levels. When combined with under-representation of racial and ethnic minorities in the teaching force, severe shortages result in some areas.
The ability to relate to students can have direct academic consequences for the students. For instance, studies have found that white teachers are more likely to assign Hispanic students to special education classes than they would similarly achieving white students. Texas Teachers’ studies also show a disproportionate number of African American students assigned to special education classes. Studies also show that Hispanic teachers are less likely to misdiagnose language difficulties as learning disabilities.

Please ignore this thread. Do not click on the links. I dread to think what you might find.

The Apprentice... (better than original thread title)
Sadly it doesn't link to anything even remotely intriguing, exciting or dangerous but just a bunch of American teachers telling us how so much better they are in their line of work than their fellow compatriots from other US states.
Garbage flossed up as something almost intelligent. Maybe, it's one of Alan Sugar's future projects from "The Apprentice"? Bit boring last night, wasn't it?

I read today that some Australian scientist is trying to ban cremation, because of its negative effects on the atmosphere. I cant stand the thought of being buried!!0 -

Aren't they talking about being freeze dried? I don't fancy some one mistaking me for a jar of coffee

I took it in with my ball when I was in a Huff and I can't replace it until I get home. Its in private so I can't get arrested, can I?0 -
Re:Gender Diversity
Dear god that sounds horrid.
Also apparently the cremator makers are having to make more and more outsized machines, for people to go through on their final journey. Only a few places have cremators large enough for some of the population.0 -

So - we are on the second page of a thread and we have already covered sex toys and cremation. (And the thread was about neither!)

Actually I was even quiet quiet at home - I had a steaming headache.0
