Re:Study Buddy
Not sure. Sometimes it's better just to imagine it. Wouldn't want the reality to fall flat.

Do you think Mandy's enjoying her nap?0 -

Must be time to wake her up for lunch,
unless she's on the rollercoaster, then we'd best not interupt her :oops:0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Must admit, I could do with a little snooze myself.
Keep the noise down a bit and then I can nod off...0 -

Re:Study BuddyPaul22 wrote:Just nipped in to say AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH my head is about to explode!!!!!!!!!!
Do it quietly, please, don't want to wake H & M up, they can be quite vicious if woken too early. You know what they say about "letting sleeping cats lay".
How did I do that?

Re:Study Buddy
Afternoon all.
I had a weird dream last night- perhaps you can help interpret it.
I was around a campfire somewhere, drinking with one of my Scottish friends, and the conversation turned to the West Lothian Question. She and I argued about Scottish devolution for hours, until we were interrupted by an agressive Sidhe. Naturally, we were both fully armed and armoured. Fighting shoulder to shoulder, we managed to defeat it and thought that this somehow solved the discussion.

Did the agressive sidhe look like Alex Salmon?0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Hi everyone
You know how a while ago I said I'd lost 2 stone?
Well, now I've lost five stone and have been throwing up almost every day since 1 January.
I changed doctors recently and went to visit him on friday and had to have a blood test. He called me on monday saying that I have hyperthyroidism.
I went to see him today and he has started me on a course of tablets which I have to take for the next 12-18 months then I'll come off the tablets and see how i go but most people have to go back on the tablets for the rest of their lives.
I have to have regular blood tests and I have to see an eye specialist because my eyes have gone weird. My vision is OK but my actual eyes are all big and bulgy. Apparantly hyperthyroidism makes your eye-lids retract and makes your retina push your eyeball forward.
Why the hell didnt my previous doctor spot all of this 5 months ago?
Anyway
I'm worried that this is going to get me into trouble at work. I told the people who needed to know, my manager, my big manager, the staff partner and the HR woman and the HR woman had a go at me  my manager and the partner understood how serious this is and said i can take time off whenever i need to as long as i agree it with my manager but the HR lady siad '"you cant just take days off willy-nilly. You have to take other staff in your department into consideration."'0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Are you calling Alex Salmond a fairy?

Re:Study Buddy
Gem - that's dreadful. I hope the tablets make you feel better soon.
You can't have weighed that much to begin with - there can't be much left of you now.0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Hi Gem
I'm sure that all the other staff in the dept. with sympathise and probably back you up until you are back on your feet. As for HR, well they just don't live in the real world.
Plenty of support for you here.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
When I told my Manager what she had said my manager said to me 'she cant do that. she cant say things like that. do you want to complain?'
And I dont want to complain because i only started with the firm in feb but I might ask my manager to have a quiet word with her.
I just can't believe I might be on medication for the rest of my life and if these pills dont work and the radiotherapy doesnt work i might have to have surgery :shock:0 -

Sorry to hear that Gem. Take care of yourself. I think the HR woman is talking rubbish- you shouldn't be stopped from medical treatment. (Though you still have to let people know)If you are SNP, then no!
*shrug* I'm English, but have a large family on both sides of The Border. My grandparents are from Glasgow and Newcastle-upon-Tyne (my Father's parents) and Aberdeen and Southwark, London (my Mother's parents).0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Normally thyroxin does the job but, yes, you will be on it for the rest of your life. I know a lot of people on it and they lead a normal life.
I take a mixture of tablets every day and I rattle as I walk, but, hey I'm alive and thats what counts. Don't let it get you down and if you feel down, log on here. Our antics will cheer anyone up.
Good luck and keep smiling0 -

We all have our faults.
Your dream is telling you that you long to be accepted by your scottish roots and that you should make more of an effort to visit the Homeland and be accepted for what you really are, a Scotsman
