Re:Study Buddy
People keep ringing me up to offer me cheaper phones but when they ask my usage and I say about ΓΒ£20 every three months, and thats if I'm busy, they normally just hang up on me! How rude

Thats because of the normal"Dad, I'm out of credit, may I use your phone, it'll only be a quick text" and before you know it, you are being shouted at because you've run out of credit0 -
Re:Study BuddyI've got something that is old and will horrify the younger ones amongst you!!! My mobile phone is 2 YEARS OLD!!!! It only makes calls and texts..... Do you all need to lie down
Two years? I can beat that and I'm younger. I bought my 'phone back in October '03. I was between jobs at the time and bought the cheapest one availible, just so I had a mobile to be contacted on. Its a Nokia 6230 and all it does is calls and texts. I think it cost me about ΓΒ£50 at the time, and I use about ΓΒ£60 in credit a year.
One of the girls I work with (who used to run a phone shop) is stunned that its still working. I told her I utterly refuse buy a new one until it breaks. She insisted the battery life and reception must be terrible (wrong on both counts), and that its features must be limited.
That is true. But I don't need it to do anything else. I have a digital camera, a very good one in fact, and doubt that one built into a phone can be much good by comparison. Playing music? That's what the mp3 player/radio is for. Computer games? I don't do portable games, and the PS2 is more than enough for me. A phone is for communication! I don't need it to disguise its shortcomings with a load of showy extras!
I think I'm preaching to the choir so I'll climb down from my soapbox. (if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor)
EDIT: I've got the model number wrong. I'll look it up later. Maybe.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Hey Graham, I've just looked at my phone and it's a nokia 6230 as well. I've obviously done it an injustice as it may be older!!! Like yours, it works - end of...0 -
Re:Study Buddy
As you say, as long as it makes phone calls & sends texts, that is all that matters. Now if they developed one that made a good cup of tea, now that would worth getting.
What? they do! its called a secretary, now that was a good invention lol

IIRC, the Nokia 3410 was the deluxe model of the Nokia 330. They look similar, but had different software. (some games, internet access) I did have a Nokia 3410, they were very common when I was 18 (2001), but it broke. Actually I dropped it, it bounced into the street and then it got run over by a bus. That's when I decided I should replace it.
All my company 'phones were Nokia 3410s right up until last December. They all still worked, but we got a better deal from the supplier. Otherwise, it's just a waste of money to buy a new one every six months.
EDIT: The model number is wrong. It's actually a 3410...0 -
