    Hi Wendy

    I can see you've sent out lot's of your spreadsheets to other members, so I know i'm probably really pushing my luck. However I would really appreicate one. I have been a full AAT member for over a year and not really done anything and now I'm starting to lose confidence in myself and feel I need a kick up to arse to put all that learning into practice. I just don't know how to actually start to be self-employed.

    Hi Wendy and everyone out there

    Hope I'm not too late to join this one.

    I do some employed and some self-employed work and have just taken on a client with the ultimate in "incomplete records".

    Originally a sole trader, the gentleman now has a limited company with two other directors and a deadline to get something approaching accounts to the accountant.

    I have put all sales and purchases invoices onto spreadsheets in order to calculate VAT, also cheque numbers and amounts (often having to find this from bank statements), and paying-in book credit numbers and amounts.

    I feel there must be a way to link these, and to expand on the info, in order to produce something acceptable to the accountant but think I am going about it in a very long-winded way.

    Any help, advice or spreadsheets would be most gratefully received.

    On the subject of self-employment, has anyone any experience of, or opinion on the pro's and con's of Limited Liability Partnerships? Should I raise this as a separate subject?
