Re:Study Buddy
Paul - I don't know anyone that runs and smokes too.
I do know plenty that like a beer or two - if that helps?
Would it be easier to give up smoking and then try the exercise?

Re:Study Buddy
No joke, you can notice a difference so soon, if I manage not to smoke and I go running on Saturday, I will notice, after two weeks it is amazing!! The beer doesnt help initially, as it is the time you smoke the most. But I figure if I try to exercise every other day, if I do eat a bit more it wont make any difference, and its better to lose weight slower and not smoke surely?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Seems to make sense.
But I know when I've been trying to train for a half-marathon, I have all these great plans and it soon goes pear-shaped for different reasons.
You need to focus on your end goal - getting fit.
If you can't stick to your schedule, it won't be the end of the world - just keep at it.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Paul, if you go to the Doc you should be able to get prescription for free patches/gum/lozenges or whatever you think would be suitable to support your stopping the weed, I did.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Thats not a bad idea actually, I might consider that if the cold turkey option gets too tough. I dont want to sound like a loser, but my lifestyle is pretty unhealthy, all my socialising revolves around pubs or gigs, and all you are doing is drinking and smoking. Then you dont feel like exercising because you are always knackered. I really need to change what I do!! Its just getting out of the rut!0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Ahh Gigs and Booze - those were the days0 -

Re:Study Buddy
VERY true
Farmer, did you say you used to be a smoker? Did you use patches?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I still don't get it - i'll have a wild stab in the dark at it though - but you tell me if I'm right...Baggybooks wrote:You'll see...or rather, smell.
Does this mean that only old people who pee and poo themselves are the only ones who would go to see UB40 hence the smell?... if not then you'll have to help me out.0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Well, that's a possibility. The other is their campaign to legalise cannabis.
This seemed to be supported by many of those at the concert I went to.

Re:Study Buddy
I have no qualms against cannabis use - I do think types should be banned - I laid my lips round a chunky skunk and it felt I had downed 5 bottles of whiskey... scary strength... also it's probably because it was only the 2nd time in my life I smoked cannabis - but some types should carry heavy punnishment but a bit of grass should be legalised... too much red tape surrounding it.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
You'll have a good night - and I'm sure your parents (who I can probably relate to!), will enjoy it too.
Course, I was at school when they had their first hit...0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Was that before the Pen and Paper was about and when children had to carve their numbers and letters onto a piece of slate using a chizel? hehehe
*Awaits a massive beating*0 -

Where is Farmer G?

Re:Study Buddy
I think i can guess.
It seems nobody can really express their own opinion anymore without people coming down on them about it, or things are being taken in the wrong context, which is easy to do when we only have text to read.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Sorry - I edited my question out. Didn't want to encourage an attack...
RaeRae - you're dead right. Pity some people can't accept what a 'forum' is.
