Re:Study Buddy
It's forecast rain for Sunday and Monday here in Manchester. I was hoping for a little sun at least as my Dahliah's are somewhat whimpering.0 -

Re:Study Buddy
My dad seems to think that anything bought from Focus DIY is a suicide note for plants. I don't see why, my conifers seem to like it! Anyone else had this trouble?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
So what have we all got planned this bank holiday. I think we've got plenty gardening to do (especially in view of how the conifers have grown) and 'er indoors wants a new garden shed in the back.
Exciting or what?

Re:Study Buddy
Can people refrain from sexual innuendo on these forums. I have complained to the AAT about this. Off topic doesn't have to be off colour. It is crass, distasteful and offensive. If members must engage in smutty banter, please do not use the forums for this, can't you engage in your conversations without publishing them for all the AAT members to see?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I bought a small shrub from Focus last year. It's not looking happy...

Re:Study Buddy
I was a little rushed, it started to rain and I was getting cold. I asked Rob whether we could come back to it another day and he said wecouldn't and we had to finish it there and then.
I suggest if you're not happpy with the shed quality, you take it up with the MD (Rob - the bone crusher)0 -
Re:Study Buddy

While I agree that some of the recent comments have been very near to the knuckle Ann Marie, I think it’s incredibly harsh and unfair to complain directly to the AAT without giving posters the opportunity to speak or even apologise first.
Many of us on here have incredibly busy, stressful and tiring jobs and these forums – with this thread in particular – often provide a useful way of temporarily alleviating and hopefully brightening an otherwise dull day. Posters on this thread range from Foundation level students, through those at Intermediate and Technician right up to MIP’s and even chartered accountants.
Recently there has been mention of a Forum ‘clique’ which I believe is misleading. True, there may seem an ‘inner circle’ to newer members since many of the posts are written by the same people. But that proves nothing beyond the fact that there is an undoubted 'core' of maybe six or seven posters who’re online here more than nearly everyone else. We’ve all known each other for nearly a year now and in that time, have gone beyond mere ‘pen pals’ and are on first name terms which I believe has forged genuine online friendships. We still help other people where and when we can and no-one is excluded from this ‘inner circle’ unless they consciously choose to make themselves so. This could be through a natural moving on to pastures new as some of the original contributors have (and which we all will at some point), an unwillingness to take part in the first place or - as in the case of one recent poster - by writing comments so outrageous and insulting that they virtually excommunicate themselves. However even I, after my ‘online breakdown’, tantrum and separation a few weeks ago, am still welcomed back into the fold as though it had never happened.
There were also several posts recently written crazily saying that people needed to be invited to join certain threads - especially Study Buddy - which again is rubbish. No-one owns the intellectual rights to Study Buddy and nor is it any one persons exclusive party to invite others. This is far and away the most heavily subscribed thread on the AAT Forums and most members have at some point or other, written at least one post on here. New innovations were implemented especially for this thread which benefited the rest of the Forums elsewhere too. All anyone has to do is join in while acknowledging the lunatic atmosphere which we sometimes create - most of which is written firmly tongue-in-cheek - or stay out until that particular phase of conversation has passed. However, it’s rich to read through literally pages and pages of posts from several people and then complain about the subject matter afterwards. This smacks of a move towards 1970’s Mary Whitehouse type censorship which is something we have rarely seen on the site up until now and I hope we never will.
Best regards,

Re:Study Buddy
Brilliantly written Robert, I agree 100%. I am amazed that a forum can create different interpretations of events but then that is the beauty of everyone being individual I guess. As Robert says, no-one "owns" this forum or needs an invite. I have made friends here where we now also keep in touch via e-mail. Can't be all bad eh? If the AAT believe I have been in breach of the forum use then I will accept that. Apologies, but I can't accept it from an individual who feels the Study Buddy forum should be closed because it doesn't meet their expectations.
