    Hi there,
CIPFA is only of use if you work for local government.
CIMA is for Management Accounting (hence the name) and involves more of a costing side of things.
ACCA is for Chartered Accountancy, which is more auditing and DFS (DFS is used in all 3, but I think it is concentrated on more in ACCA).
If you are going in to business for yourself, I would suggest CIMA.
I have no experience of anything further than AAT, therefore these are only my opinions.

Hi I work in local government and will be studying CIPFA after I finish AAT (hopefully in June). I was very confused as to which qualification to study as CIMA really appealed to me, however as I am in local government CIPFA seemed the best choice. I would recommend ACCA if you want to open your own practice or CIMA if you want to enter the commerical sector. Either which way once you are qualified in either CIPFA/CIMA/ACCA you will be CCAB qualifed and only need sit 2 papers in any of the others to be fully qualified in them to. My plan is to study CIPFA as my company will pay for it and then sit the 2 papers required in CIMA to be qualified in that also. Good luck!! :?

    Hi

I see that you work in the Local Gov and are going on to do CIPFA. I just wondered if you are sitting the DFSL (local Gov) paper, and if so how are you finding it? I am really struggling there are so many things to remember and its totally diff from financal in previous years, do you have any tips?

I have thought about CIPFA but I am just going to see if I can get through this first!! Where will you be Studying if you take it, and also you said you were going to do 2 papers in CIMA to be qualified I am little confused??? I want to do CIMA but my employer wont pay for it.

    Thanks
