Re:Variance Analysis
Hi,
I received a document from someone in the forum & it helped me to remember them. Would you like me to e-mail a copy to you?0 -
Re:Variance Analysis
I learnt them the hard way - just writing them out several times a day.
Eventually it sunk in and I developed a kind of shorthand for them.
I found a scrap of paper the other day with it all on and I could still remember them - 6 months after the exam.
It felt so good when it clicked. But I was tough on myself. I didn't progress further with the course until I had learnt them - there didn't seem much point.
Good luck - keep at it.

Re:Variance Analysis
Hi I remember them like this,
Fixed overhead capacity as ABC,
Actual hrs minus
Budgeted hrs x boar equals
Capacity
Fixed Overhead Efficiency as every student asks,
Efficiency equals
Standard hrs minus
Actual hrs x boar
Fixed overhead expenditure as show me the money,
Budgeted £'s minus
Actual £'s
I hope that helps a little bit

Re:Variance Analysis
Hi,
This helped me hugely to remember all the formulas - hope it helps you too:-
"PURE AS" (or "Pure as as" as it reads) method for materials and labour: -
Price (material) standard - actual x Actual
Useage (material) standard - actual x Standard
Rate (labour) standard - actual x Actual
Efficiency (labour) standard - actual x Standard
and for Overhead variances : -
ABC (the alphabet) Actual - Budget x absorb rate = Capacity
SAE (Stamped addressed envelope) Standard - Actual x absorp rate = Efficiency
SBV (Silly bloody variances) Standard - Budget x absorb rate = Volume
