Post edited - sorry, but please don't discuss specifics until candidates across different time zones have sat each exam - 24 hours, please.

question hard? I just did not understand. is there anybody in same situation? it will give me relief!

    I could not balance my operating statment.

    Other variances are ok but not too sure of my volume. Time plays a key factor as I ran out of time to re calculate it.

    I found this question incredibly easy - but maybe I misunderstood it :)

    I think I did OK overall. Variances came out OK, ratio tasks not too bad, waffled something more or less sensible for the written answers.

    I found the seasonal variation question easy in that the answer was effectively in the question as the underlying cost had not changed and the only adj was for seasonal variation. Therefore as the last month's (April I think) cost was £800 and there was no seasonal variation then you already have your answer, i think!

    Now worried about DFS, thinking that will probably end up being really hard as i had been more worried about PEV before the exams started.

    I was more worried about PEV too. I think I know my stuff for DFS but won't stop it being long and hard.

    I didn't think that there would need to be a balancing figure in the operating statement - when all of the variance figures had been added or subtracted it just came back to the actual cost of production?? :shock:

    I thought by balancing figure you meant the difference between the adverse and favourable variances ie the difference betweent the standard cost and the actual cost.

    ignore what i said, i think im thinking of another question :shock: because you are right there isn't a balancing figure on the operating statement!! all this studying has gone to my head :lol:

    Oops, oh yeah, I got 931 too...I remember now. As I got 30,690 as my standard cost. When I mean balancing, I meant the netted off adverse and favourable variances which gets added on to actual.

    Before the PEV exam I knew section 1 but in the exam messed up as I put the wrong thing down for std usgae for actual production which then went on to mess up my statement and variances. I did put my own figure in and used that to carry it through but I know it's wrong and it will probably cost me the paper, seasonal variation I completely forgot I done question 'a' but just messed up 'b' and 'c' the rest of he paper was Ok except no idea what gearing was. Do you think I have a slight chance of passing. I'm so gutted, it does not pay to be over confident.
    Have got PCR tomorrow which I find harder then PEV so looks like re-sits in Decemebr
