:D Hi there everyone. Hope the PLB exam today went well for everyone. I had been panicking about it, and after today I do not know why I was worried. Myself and quite a few others in the exam room had done it in 1 hour and that was with checking it and checking it again. Hope everyone else out there found it as easy as we did???

Just got to wait for the results now....

Lucia :D

I have to say that I too felt that the time given was generous, although I must say I took about 2 hours to finish it. It went better than I thought, but I am disappointed. I couldn't get the trial balance to balance. I checked and checked and checked. Now I just have to wait to find out how (badly) I've done.

As long as you recognised the trial imbalance Mandie and opened a compensating suspense account, you should be fine. Even if you didn't but demonstrated a sound knowledge of T accounting, you should still be okay and you honestly do have to make a real pigs ear of the whole paper to fail...

I did the PLB exam two years ago in about 80 minutes but be warned - it never gets this 'easy' again!

I forgot about the suspense account. I only thought about it as I walked out of the exam hall... typical.. I am pleased with myself because a month ago I didn't think I would be prepared for the exams as I was still on unit 1. But I feel that I mastered the T accounts quite well.

I know that for AAT you get either a pass or fail and you have to show competence in both sections. I'm worried that I may have done bad because on the mock exams sent by AAt it said to pass section 1 you need to get 90% and 75% on section 2.

Don't worry I remember when I sat my level 2 exams my trial balance didn't balance put I passed the exam.

Upon getting home and looking at the book I realised I didn't restore the imprest system correctly. But that was a class that I missed at college as well. It wasn't as bad as I thought though. I spent an 1hr 45 on it including reading it through before starting and checking at the end. When I've done the past papers it was always the second section that tripped me up. Just keeping my fingers crossed that I've done enough to pass.

I am sure you will all do fine - I did my PLB last year in about 40mins so it can be done quickly. I have just done my 2 x intermediate ones and was still only in for about 1 1/2hrs on each!!

I can do a PLB now in about half an hour to forty minutes, but would still probably take the full time on all others after Foundation (barring last Junes ECR which was a doddle!)

The thing is you get much better the further you go - the usual exam stresses are still there but you do wonder how and why you ever used to fret about the earlier levels!

I feel pretty confident on my PLB exam. I started out nervous and put the purchase ledger on the wrong side, but I caught myself and corrected it before I got to far. In the end, my TB balanced which I was happy about :) The only bit I struggled with really is on the question on capital and revenue - I got the capital one right, but depending on how they look at it, I amy have got the revenue one wrong. However, I did put examples with the revenue one, so I am hoping for some pts on it anyway.

    Hi

What did you put for Revenue and capital expenditure then? from what I can gather its only required simply as its detailed more in intermediate year. And if you put examples am sure they will give you marks as it shows you know the differences!
