Hiya guys,

Not sure if we can si I won't go into any detail. All I will say is that is was awful, much worse than I expected. I started off all cocky thinking how easy until I couldn't get the TB to balance!! I then couldn't get the Extended TB correct and it just went tits up from there. Hope u guys had a better time than I did, looks like I'll be re-taking in December. :(

    A friend of mine got through Foundation even when his Trial Balance didn't balance in the exam so don't worry too much - you may pick up marks for things you have done (even if the figures are wrong) because they are only supposed to penalise you for your original error. You may find you did better than you thought - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

    I'm sure you'll be fine. As long as you put a suspense account in to balance the TB if you showed workings throughout the paper I don't think they can fail you.

    I couldnt get my TB to work at first, I was £18000 out! And I got so frustrated with it, I think I spent about 20mins trying to find it! Then I realised I hadnt put purchases and sales in - duh. And I forgot how to check my ETB, so I was convinced it was wrong! Then spent ages doing it again, then remembered how to check it and I was right all along!

    Managed to leave after an hour and a half which I was pleased with cos I managed to get my early bus home :lol:

    I thought that the paper was easier then last years, but I still couldnt get the tb or extended tb to balance, just chilling out, thats it till august.

    Will have to just wait and see for the results.

    I completely messed up, my section 1 tb didnt balance i ended up putting a suspense a/c in!! and god only knows if i got section 2 right???

    I thought this was easier than the ECR on Monday. I managed to get everything to balance. I won't go into details but I didn't like the last question as that topic always confuses me!!

    i'm a bit worried because my trial balance was quite a bit out in section 1, but i did put a suspense acount in. I think i got all, or at least most of section 2 right.hopefully should be ok

    I actually found section 1 ridiculously easy - much easier than any of the past papers i have been working through.

    Section 2 I also thought was easier than previous papers, and MUCH easier than the simulation, but I do think although i managed to get my ETB to balance that my final figures for profit/loss during the year were incorrect. Of the dozen or so people i spoke to after the exam, almost all of us had a different figure!

    I also muddled myself up with the balance sheet layout - but i think i managed to put all the right numbers on there in something like the right order, so fingers crossed it comes out alright.

    There's no set percentage mark. But my tutor always says its roughly 65%

    It would be yes because you have to show competency in both sections so you would have to take the whole paper again

    Apparently, according to my tutor who marks DFS papers (technician), 75% in each section will be enough to guarantee that you pass. 65% and above and you should pass. Any less than that and you're not looking at good news.

    Glad to see I'm not the only one who came a cropper in the TB. The funny thing is I was ok with the adjustments. It was the cross casting where I had my troubles. I had to whack in a £3000 suspesnse in the balance sheet cross cast. I don't know what I did. Then the final balance sheet didn't balance. Oh well roll on December.

    I hope thats the case, because I also had to whack in a suspense a/c my TB was out by £1750.

    Second section got the ETB to balance but don't think i did it right as i couldnt get my balance sheet to balance with the new current a/c figures and had to use the old ones!!!

    whooopss GUTTED i really dont want to fail!!

    Oh well if you expect the worse you cant be dissapointed!!!

    I thought the FRA was much easier than the past papers I had been practising with, I seem to get everything that needed to be balance to balance without opening a suspense account. So those who werent able to balance as long as you use a suspense account you will get credits for that.
    Fingers crossed its going to be a long old wait until August.

    65% might not sound like a fabulous score to set as the pass mark - but most higher education has a pass mark in that area.

    For example - CIMA certificate's 5 exams, which you are exempt from if you pass AAT Technician each have a pass mark of only 50%!!! They are computer based assessments of about 50 multiple choice questions, meaning you could probably guess you way through them!

    So having to achieve minimum 65% in BOTH sections on the AAT papers is actually quite a high benchmark.

    Tutors who tell you that you need 80% are probably just trying to make sure you learn as much as possible and dont assume you can breeze through it with a low pass rate.

    i had one glass of wine!! my last wekend of studying as i gotta retake my costing simulation on tues! so next weekend i am going out and getting very very drunk!!
