Re:Gervais
He was hillarious, more risque than ever! In fact downright offensive :-) Superb!0 -
Re:Gervais
Had to dig back to find this thread!
Anyone see him die on his feet last night at the concert for Diana? It was sooooooooooo excruciating and you could really kind of feel for him. What a cock up and a pathetic end to something that should have been so memorable. It will be now but for totally the wrong reasons...
Car crash TV which I'm sure he won't forget in a hurry...0 -
Re:Gervais
I didnt see it, what happened?0 -
Re:Gervais
He was supposed to come on and fill in a four minute slot - which eventually turned into a fifteen minute slot due to 'technical problems' (Elton probably having a hissing fit backstage).
He had no material beyond what he thought he was originally going to do - kind of proving beyond all reasonable doubt that he's not a great ad libber. He did the dance from 'The Office' then followed it up with an excruciating song about fat people. You could have cut the deathly silence from the stadium and I was embarrassed for him! His last words out loud were "This is a shambles" which I think all viewers at home agreed with! David Brent but in real life...
No doubt it'll be on "Most embarrassing TV moments" compilations in the future along with Judy's bra etc...0 -
Re:Gervais
Am I alone in thinking he is just not funny?
Feel like the little boy in The Emperor's New Clothes.

Re:Gervais
His character in the Office was spot on, but I can't help feeling as if it wasn't that much of an act.
When I've seen him on TV or heard him on the radio, there doesn't seem much more he can do.
Never saw Extras.0 -
Re:Gervais
Extras is great, I do agree though that Brent was Gervais with a goaty though. Although he is the first to admit this.
The podcasts with Steve Merchant and Karl Pilkington, are some of the funniest comedy shows I have ever heard, no exaggeration.
I am also into Russell Brand's podcasts and stand up material to.
Jan, you'll be telling us Alan Partridge isn't funny next!!

No Jan, you're not. Although I did feel for him the other night, his come-uppance has been a long time coming for essentially a one trick pony comedian. It's not that I don't like his act, it's rather Gervais himself that I don't like and the way he feels he's now such a huge star. Some of the anti-comments on YouTube about him are so funny but can't be repeated here!
Have you ever heard Derek and Clive, Paul? Completely blows anything else away that's ever been written or recorded.0 -
Re:Gervais
No I havent, ill look it up. Give me some more information about it.

Re:Gervais
While I can perfectly understand your feelings towards him Jan, I think you'll find his surname is actually Titchmarsh...Jan wrote:Are you thinking of Alan Titmarsh??
However, anyone see Live Earth on Saturday and the excellent Foo Fighters? Bit of a hard act for Madge to follow and it did rather shock me when she implied we all had sexual relationships with our dear old mums. :shock:0 -
Re:Gervais
I missed them Rob, have seen them twice before though and they are mighty. Still not as good as Nirvana, but I dont think they ever could be for me.
Jan, I seriously worry about your sense of humour :-)0 -
Re:Gervais
 OK, Robert so now it's my turn to feel foolish. And when did you take on the spell checker mantel? While I can perfectly understand your feelings towards him Jan, I think you'll find his surname is actually Titchmarsh...
Don't worry about my sense of humour Paul, at my age its just takes a bit of time to catch up. And yes I do know that both of them have been around for quite some time!
I didn't spot this till after your self-imposed excile. I've been away so had a lot of catching up to do - both reading the posts & work (although maybe not in that order)
Just hope you are still peeping in to see how we are getting on without you.
