    Definately not a degree.

It all depends on the route you are studying on. If you are studying on the NVQ/SVQ pathway then you will be known as having a NVQ Level 4, Diploma pathway then you will have a Diploma.

But these are two routes to the same overall recognised qualification. Which, judging by the demand for AAT's, is very good.

    Sorry to disagree.
We were told from the outset that this IS a Foundation degree.
Though if you are doing the Diploma Pathway, only that will be a diploma.
I am graduating in September, can't wait!

The AAT’s NVQ Level 2 in Accounting is the first stage of the ‘AAT Accounting Qualification’ - a recognised (Level 4) alternative to a university degree and provides a well-established progression route to all the UK’s senior accountancy qualifications.

    Hi,

I was also told that Level 4 is equivalent to a foundation level/first yr degree hence when you have completed the 3 stages you get exemptions from the postgraduate degrees such as ACCA, CIMA etc

I agree with what you are saying. I have always been told that it is equivalent to a foundation degree, i do not dispute that.

Does anyone know how many UCAS points the Technician qualification is worth?

    Re:a lil confused

As far as I know UCAS has only recognised AAT at NVQ Level 3 stage. I've copied the bit from the Guardian report that's relevant:
Anyone with a level 3 NVQ awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is holding 160 points, the Ucas has decreed. That is 40 points more than an A-grade A-level.

It would be good to know what the NVQ Level 4 is worth. Maybe now they've recognised level 3 they will recognise level 4.
