Hi,

Can anybody guide me on where ti start with this stupid project!!!

    Hi,

    If you work in an accounting environment you could start by looking at the different systems that are in place or used and whether you can see any flaws or improvements that can be made. Or if you have been involved recently with any changes to any methods this can be used.
    Failing that the AAT's project simulation but I'm not sure how easy/friendly it is,

    I did my project on the Salaries Monitoring System that I had just implemented into my work place. The hardest part is getting started and then it just flows. If you have any new systems that you are involved in at work or a system that you think can be done better. One girl at my college did hers on a training manual that she produced for new starters, detailing all the H&S, computer packages, responsibilities. It doesn't necessary have to be solely on an accounts system. My strongest area was the supervisory/management section so that was my main bulk and the Salaries Monitoring part was a small section.

    I did my project on the simulation as I wasnt working at the time. If you can, try and find a subject at work - is there anything you can improve with regard to purchasing systems, or banking systems maybe? The simulation was extremly difficult to get right and has taken me just under a year to complete.

    Could purchasing and Stock control be a topic in unit 10 project? We have quite a major flaw in our bars...Would love to get my teeth into it!

    Another tip which I found really useful is once you have your idea, rather than just writing the entire thing and then trying to match it up to the student pack criteria after, go through each of the points you have to cover and write a paragraph for each one, and then fit these into your project so you can easily reference your project to your k/u questions and that. I did this and not only was it easier when it came to referencing, but also found I'd written three quarters of the project just by doing so!

    That sounds like a good project. Anything within your workplace to do with an accounting system you can use as your project.

    Thanks for all your tips guys. I have finally started it and have somethin to do it on now. Im having to fluff it out a bit but ill get there in the end. All exams done and dusted now so only this left so got to get it done ready to start CIMA in February. It never ends does it...........!!!!
