I can't believe I failed PTC and passed BTC which i found loads harder! Am i the only one?!!

    if its any consolation i know at least three people who failed personal tax but passed business tax, myself included, and we all failed on the second part only.

    I also failed on section 2. I feel a bit embarrased about it all! Esp as i thought that unit was easy....strange

    I think there was a popular misconception that PTC was easy. A lot of people in my class came out all smiles but when we discussed the smiles disappeared. As ssection 2 appers to have been the problem my recollection are:

    Section 2 included a Rights Issue on Shares whereby you matched with original pre 98 shares but didn't apply indexation. Then applied the 65%. I suspect many missed that. It was one line in osborne.

    The land may have confused some as exempt between spouses.

    If you didn't show working the loss relief would have difficult to mark if you got 2.1 wrong.

    The income tax comp and the CGT should have been OK

    Task 2.6.
    Vintage Car - exempt.

    Painting bought 1985 - restricted gain (10000-6000)x 5/3.
    Painting bought 1998 - bought for and sold for under £6000 - exempt.

    I don't think I got a great deal of that wrong...although I guess I must have!

    I failed too but realise the very careless mistakes I made in section 2.
    Are there any revision days being organised that you know about?
