Hi all
I really need some advice please.
I have just passed the Technician level and do not know what to do.
I am doing part-time job, for the last over 2 years, in an accountantcy firm (owner is not a qualified accountant) maily deal in VAT computations and filling of small business (self employed only) in local area.
I would like to study further and can not decide what to do?
ACA or ACCA.
I believe doing any of the above it would be must to have "training contract" with an authorised employer??
Also I am 33, the only qualification I have is AAT NVQ4.
Anybody please tell what is NVQ4 equivalent to.I need to answer the following question to apply for ACA training contract.
"""
Have you obtained or are you expecting a 1st or 2:1 degree, or for students at Scottish universities, an ordinary degree or above?
Yes/No
Do you have 280 or more UCAS* points (excluding General Studies)?
Yes/No
Do you have GCSE Maths grade B or above (or equivalent)?
Yes/No
"""
Also If I do not get a (realted )job and still carry on with ACCA on my own and finish it on time say 2010. will I still be ACCA qualified?? or the experience is must.
Thanks
Ray

The NVQ4 is a Foundation degree, but I don't know if this is a 1st or 2:1 on neither.computerbar wrote:Do you have 280 or more UCAS* points (excluding General Studies)?

If you did not pass Maths at GCSE (secondary school), the answer is no.computerbar wrote:Also If I do not get a (realted )job and still carry on with ACCA on my own and finish it on time say 2010. will I still be ACCA qualified?? or the experience is must.

In order to qualify as an ACCA member, you will complete:
*14 exams (nine of which are eligible for exemption)
*relevant practical experience, with a minimum of three years
*a Professional Ethics module.
Hope I have helped in some way!

Re:I am AAT Qualified. what is it equivalent to??
I would advise that you ring the AAT for this information.

Re:I am AAT Qualified. what is it equivalent to??
NVQ4 is not a first or a 2.1 degree. It is supposed to be the equivalent of the first year of a degree but it isn't equivalent to a full degree.
Why don't you apply for AAT - ACA fast track if that is what you are considering, I'm sure the big firms do those.

Re:I am AAT Qualified. what is it equivalent to??
thanks guys.
Just one last question. I am going to call AAT but still I thought somebody might know.
what is the differnce between
Ucas Tariff points and UCAS points?
Like this requirement on KPMG site for A level trainees for studying AAT.
"260 UCAS Tariff points (20 UCAS points)"

Re:I am AAT Qualified. what is it equivalent to??
Even on AAT-ACCA/aca fast tracks I believe they still want to make sure you have enough UCAS points etc. Which I still do not know what is AAT equivalant to?bluewednesday wrote:NVQ4 is not a first or a 2.1 degree.
