Is it me? follow-up

Some of you may remember my rant about the employee (X) who was 'raising' her voice when talking on the phone making it impossible for the two other staff sharing the office to hear when they were on the phone well ...
After several fraught meetings in which X a) refused take her finger out of her ear when on the phone b) refused to try to moderate her voice when making calls and c) refused to agree to not make calls when one of the others was on the phone, I finally put my foot down a said the only compromise would be to have only one line into the office with two phones – one on X's desk so that she has access to a phone at all times as she had insisted on (despite being out of the office approx 3 days out of 5) and one shared between the other two members of staff who’s desks are back to back. One member of the other two would be responsible for answering the phone and passing the call over to the appropriate person.
Simple you would think! Have just sat here listening to the phone ring un-answered when I know that X is in the office and the other two are out. When I asked why she had not answered the call she replied that the others were not there and how was she to know the call was for her? Pointed out that as the others are out reception would not be putting a call through that is for them response ‘well they might and if I answer it I would have to take a message for them’
Why oh why did I even get up this morning??

Re:Is it me? follow-up
call her into your office - just before she gets to your door, throw something at her feet so she falls. Allow her head to fall slightly and into the path of the door.
Now, RUN OVER to her and pin her shoulders to the floor so she can't wriggle out of the way and take a leaf from the film "Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrells" and use the door to continually smash her in the head until she apologises for working in the same company as you and promises to do anything you say from this day forth.
Let us know how it goes.0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
She sounds like a right nightmare! What a bad attitude to have!
EDIT: Chuckles at Jamie's suggestion!!

Re:Is it me? follow-up
I think you should go with Jamie's idea first, and then follow it up with Ka8's idea!
Or just for fun, you could keep phoning her and then hanging up when (IF) she answers!0 -

Re:Is it me? follow-up
It is a crying shame that the occasional bit of necessary violence and bloodshed has largely been banished from the workplace. I was going to suggest something nasty when reading Gill's opening post until I saw Jamie's fine effort.
Since giving her a much needed slap is likely to land you in trouble, just to pee her off, if her phone accepts direct calls from outside, I'd set the fax machine to dial her a few times. That's always a good one - especially if you can see their face.

Re:Is it me? follow-up
LOL! yeah thats a brill idea.
Infact give us the number and we will all phone it :twisted:0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
I used to have a number you could ring and they would call the number you requested.
The victim heard what appeared to be someone on a mobile with the signal breaking up.
Brilliant fun.0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
Thanks people. Haven't actually put any of the suggestions into practice yet but they have all cheered me up.
There are some sane people out there!!!
(do I really mean that in light of what some of the suggestion are??)
:P

That's a shame, Gill.GILL wrote:Thanks people. Haven't actually put any of the suggestions into practice yet but they have all cheered me up
I also have to add that there is something unquestionably appealing about wanting to continually slam someones head in a door just like Jamie suggested (and as used with tremendous effect in the movie "Lock, Stock...")
And is it just me but is anyone else up for a real life "Fight Club" since I could quite go for that one at times too?
Must be a male thing, I guess...

Re:Is it me? follow-up
You're really going to have stop taking those steroids Hellen. Farmer Giles reliably informs me you're starting to grow hair and bulges in some very unusual places...0 -

Well, I have had to shave my chest, but muscles? Hardly!0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
It should be in their job description: 'punch bag'!0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
Can I have one, please, please, pretty please.. I really could do with a "punchbag" at the moment  :evil:0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
'Must be able to take a beating, preferably on a daily basis'.0 -
Re:Is it me? follow-up
You could record her when she is on the phone, and next time she does it you could replay her annoying voice in the background, drowning out her new telephone conversation.
She would have no-one else to blame as she would have to conduct an arguement with herself, then perhaps she would begin to realise what a pain in the arse she was being!
