Well, well, well. Seems like we can play rugby in this hemisphere after all.

Re:Rugby
One match does not a world cup make. Or something similar.
:shock:0 -
Re:Rugby
I think England were lucky to win, they couldn't score a try. Let's see if Scotland can do any better today against the Pumas.0 -

Re:Rugby
Hi Helen,
LOL!!!

All rugby players do is drink beer and think they are God's gift.
How is your studying for AAT going by the way?
Yours,

Ah well, we've had this levelled at England before - the Aussies kept saying something similar in 2003, but who WON THE WORLD CUP??!!!!
Absolutely bloody gutted about Hamilton this morning. Not the first time some numpty at Mclaren has neglected to change a tyre when it's clearly residing in rubber Heaven!0 -
Re:Rugby
I have just finished crying over Lewis. :?
I don't know if I can watch in 2 weeks... 0 -
Re:Rugby
I'm still in denial.
However have confidence - we know what Lewis can pull out of the bag when he's under pressure and I don't mean a spin into the pit gravel trap!0 -

Since I saw the light and knocked it on the head, great thanks!0 -

When one team physically dominates another, you dont call it luck.0 -
Re:Rugby
I don't think they physically dominated at all. They just played for the penalties.
Scotland didn't play at their best tonight and got duly slapped down. Tough. Maybe they will learn from their mistakes and play better in future.

Re:Rugby
Uncomfortable viewing on Saturday I thought :shock:0 -
Re:Rugby
England seem to rely on JW scoring from penalties and don't seem to be making enough effort to score tries. The 'Boks will punish them again if they continue to play in this manner. Josh Lewsy was lucky to score on Saturday and well done to him but can England score enough tries next Saturday? Would they be lost again without the boot of JW?0 -
Re:Rugby
I think they need to sort the runner, and Percy out early to stand any chance of winning.0 -
Re:Rugby
Breaking news;
Sales of condoms to French 'ladies of the night' have taken a dramatic slump, after England proved on Saturday night, that it only takes 1 Johnny to f**k 15 Frenchmen...

Re:Rugby
LOL I really like that one

Definitely, but Englands strength over the last two games has been to shut up shop and take the penalties when they have arose.blobbyh wrote:Breaking news;

Nice one Blobbyh. I'll distribute it around the offices immediately. Nothing like a joke at the French expense.0 -
Re:Rugby
Ever noticed how most men and women see team sports differently?
Men can see their team narrowly lose yet still bitterly complain how they were the better side, played them off the pitch, should have scored six times, they were robbed, the other team were lucky etc. The fact they scored less goals or points is largely irrelevant.
However, women see it very transparently - the team that scored the most goals or points deservedly won - totally regardless of how they did it. Since ultimately it's only goals in the net that count, they scored, you didn't, nothing else matters - simple as that!
Now who's right?!! LOL!

Re:Rugby
Jokes from the Sky News discussion boards;
"Hear the one about England's last practice before the final? They placed 15 metal drums on the field to practice tackling the 'Boks. After 80 minutes, the drums were leading 21-0!"
"England rugby practice was delayed for two hours this afternoon after a player reported finding a white powdery substance on the practice ground.
Head coach Ashton immediately suspended practice while the police were called to investigate.
After a complete forensic search Scotland Yard determined that the white stuff which was unknown to the players was in fact the try line.
Practice was continued as police were happy the players were unlikely to encounter the substance again."
LOL! Probably the worst week ever for English sport but at least we can have a good laugh about it!

Re:Rugby
Worst ever week? The rugby lads can hold their heads up. I am proud of their efforts.0 -
Re:Rugby
I agree that the rugby lads and Lewis Hamilton can all hold their heads up very high since they did what they could against adversity. The England rugby team in all honesty were never going to beat South Africa but at least they didn't get hammered. And as I've already written elsewhere, Hamilton was astonishing all season but got right royally screwed at the death by his own 'team'.
The England football team and McLaren F1 team can all be sent to the Tower of London for summary execution.
Still, they say that every cloud has a silver lining and at least we won't have to go through the very predictable disappointment of seeing yet another England football team failing miserably at a major championship!
EDIT; funny I didn't notice the irony until now but Steve McClaren failed us in the week and team McLaren failed us yesterday. What's in a name, eh?

Re:Rugby
All that's need is for Bill McLaren to be commentating on the rugby and we'd be able to work up a good conspiracy theory.
Still, you can't say that the muddied oafs and that chap in the motor car haven't kept up the proper English tradition of not quite being good enough with some aplomb.
Better, though, to be heroic failures than just plain rubbish like the football team.
