Statutory Holiday Entitlement

I have just received my copy of the November issue of Accounting Technician.

To my dismay I find that not only my clients but some of my peers do not understand the new rules for the statutory holiday entitlement.

These rules were drafted specifically to help part time workers a point AT seems to have missed.

The entitlement is specifically 4.8 weeks not 24 days, this only applies if the eyee works a five day week.

    Yes victor I too have to confess to being extremely irritated that after so many years the statutory entitlement is still sorely misinterpreted.

    You are right that there is a need to clarify this and as a payroll member i will send something to the publishers so that we can get clarification.

    We also have to consider that the new entitlement does not include "all public holidays" because only half of the combined bank and public holidays are included now with the rest following in April 2009.

    Very misleading.
