Taxable Benefits

I have read that there are to be changes in the taxable benefits, particularly with regard to mobile phones and laptops. Does anyone know where I can get the information on the actual changes for laptops?

    The Home Computer Initiative was scrapped with effect from 6th April 2006 if this is what you mean?

    This means that computers (laptops or otherwise) that are provided to employees, and whom are allowed to make personal use of those assets, are now taxable just as any other asset provided.

    In practice, the personal use is likely to be insignificant unless perhaps a computer/laptop is provided for the employees family/spouse.

    For mobile phones, the complete taxable exemption is now restricted to only one phone per employee; although it is possible to extend this to two phones if one is solely used for business purposes.
