So there I am - I have selected a rather nice looking yellowfin Tuna salad on Malted from the sarnie section in Waitrose

Return to my desk - Take a bite and yuck yuck yuck

They have stuffed said sandwich not with lettuce leaves but with coriander leaves - Hideous monstrous things

The consequence - I am Β£2.59 down and still hungry

Damn you Waitrose

I'm with you on the coriander leaf phobia. Flat leaf parsley for me. It's far more palatable.

Perhaps you could get them under trading standards? I am pretty sure that under English law a "salad" has to contain limp lettuce and soggy tomatoes and transparantly sliced cucumber..I think a slice of cold hard boiled egg had to be included too.

Coriander huh? As my dear Mother used to say:

"It's far from coriander you were reared"

There's only two places where coriander should be and that's in curry and salsa. Coriander in sarnies and salads is an abomination.

I love it. Especially the smell when you chop it to throw in your curry.

Afraid so, but don't like a lot in a salad, and certainly wouldn't use it as the only green stuff in a sandwich!

I bought a bag of mixed salad leaves for eating with my lunch at work this week and took a mouthful and just about gagged. I thought my salad was off so had to find the offending item. I read the bag and discovered that coriander was in it so then had to pick out all the leaves. I NEVER want to eat that stuff again in a salad! YUK!

Now I know why that particular salad bag was on special in Morrisons!:001_rolleyes:

I love it when it's in it's proper place combined with other strong flavours - with onion, tomato, chilli and lime as a salsa it's wonderful or in Thai food or a curry, yum. In a salad, though, I too gag. What's wrong with a nice simple green salad, (cos lettuce, cucumber and maybe a few rocket leaves) decently attired with a simple vinaigrette?
