Simple refresher question

I havent done Payroll for a few years so i need a refresher as well as doing level 3

Can someone tell me why when the new tax tables are issued , we start from week 7 not week 1?

    It happens because the the budget occurring in March must give statutory notice to change the tax rates and the earliest this can happen is week 7. Its irritating and inconvenient but on week 1 you apply the new codes and then in week 7 the new rates, but back date them to week 1. Madness but thats the way it works.
