Payroll BACS Payments

I have used the BACS system for a few clients, and they all work a little differently. For Example I have a client with HSBC bank, who once you type into the bank site address, a password, you are asked to enter a number (from a clicker device). Once into the system, you have a menu of choices. For example you can open the current bacs list, and amend anyones bank details if they have changed, or you can choose to add a new recipient details. Or you can select make batch payments. You tick the ones you want to pay, and another screen comes up where you enter the amounts, once at the bottom, you are given a batch total, to see that it matches the total you have calculated. You then click send, and the recipients receive the funds 3 days later. For example, I enter the information on a Wednesday, the employee receives their pay on the Friday. There are usually 'cut off times' whereby if you enter the information late on a Wednesday, the employee would not be paid until the Monday, so you have to be careful to check when these cut off times are.
If you will be entering the bacs information yourself, I would recommend that you prepare it in advance but do not click the 'send' button, until you have emailed a pdf of the payments set up to the Employer or a printout for them to sign, as you need to safe guard yourself, by getting someone to confirm that these figures are correct and that you are ok to click send. In this way, if there are any blinding errors, they will be picked up, and also you cannot be blamed for any errors.
