Sorry if this is an old chestnut for some.

Are there any circumstances in which the following is allowable as a tax deductible expense:

- putting on a slideshow/nibbles for a group of potential customers

- providng a venue for networking and providing sarnies etc

not sure if considered entertaining or advertising/pr?

Any input greatly appreciated

Thanks and regards

With respect, I can't imagine your slideshow is that entertaining so I would definitiely put that to marketing! Associated nibbles should also be fine.

As for the networking event that is going to be a judgement call. If the sarnies are 'prawn sarnies' and the venue is a box at Old Trafford then you are going to struggle..

I agree, if you consider what they mean by "entertaining", I think you're safe!

Is the event primarily a marketing event?

Nibbles at a sales talk is, dinner at a football match isn't. There 2 easy examples and there will be many shades of grey inbetween.
