Software tax calculation

I am using the HMRC online form, and have also tried this on the commercial software I use.

I have inserted a client's pension income (from his former employer) into box 10 of Page TR3 of his tax return, and duly inserted tax deducted from the pension in in box 19 on Page TR6, as requested by the tax return.

The tax deducted, however, is not appearing as a deduction at the bottom of both software's 'tax calculation', thereby giving an inflated tax payable figure.

Why is this - am I missing something?

Thanks for your help.

    Pension

    Hi

The tax taken off goes in box 11 and then details of the pension goes into box 19. This is an information box and doesn't affect the tax calculation.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your help! I should have seen that.

But the form is not very clear, is it? Where Box 10 directs you to give tax deducted in Box 19, it should direct you to Box 11 first.

    Thanks again.
