VAT - Related Trades

Is their a list of what counts as related trades for VAT? I have a client who has a domestic cleaning franchise but also runs an ironing/dry cleaning business. I suspect HMRC may see them as related but would like confirmation.

    Are these businesses sole traders, limited or partnerships. If sole traders don't forget that it is the person who is vat registered.

    Sole Traders. One is a franchise and I wondered if that made a difference.

    I am sure it doesn't, it is a sole trader like any other. What are the turnover of each company?
