How is everyone getting on studying for the June exams?

I am taking P1 and P2 this sitting, studying with BPP Online Classroom, and have started revising this weekend!

So far so good!!

    Taking F4 (re sit), F7 and F9.
Wish I was only taking two now, as the exams are really coming around fast...

They are coming around scarily fast! I can't believe it'll all be over in about 4 weeks.

Good luck with your exams, I enjoyed F7 & F9, can't say the same about F4 though!!

    Just so much to remember.
Really glad I have study leave soon (1 week per exam taken).
I can get my life back in 4 weeks!

I am studying F7 at college, but like most of my class have decided to wait till December to take the exam, there just seems to be so much to get your head round and I don't feel very confident with it yet. I'm sure I'll get there though, with lots of practice questions.

I've also been teaching myself F9 and I've got on much better with that and am taking that exam in June. I've now done three practice papers and they seem to be going ok - there's always something I forget about in each calculation though as there's so much to remember, but I'm making myself a list of what I've forgotten in the hope that I can remember not to forget them on exam day!

Good luck to everyone else taking exams.

I sat P1 & P2 last June, P2 is a beast of an exam, which is why they call it the beast I guess...

But theres plenty of ways to get marks on it, even if you come out feeling you've done very badly, not getting to any final answers or with anything balancing, you could still have picked up enough marks on the bits you have done!

    Good luck :)

What is the jump like from the Fundamentals papers to the Professional papers?

My exam venue (Newcastle) has changed - it's now closer to the train station which is handy for me! Hope it's as nice as the old venue though.

I really didn't find it all that much harder, probably because I was getting better as the modules were getting harder. There is more to remember though, as they build on previous modules and the assumed knowledge from them.

I remember my P2 exam, the girl at the table next to me spent the full 3h 15m with her head in her hands, not writing a single word, that was a bit off putting...

Oooh that sounds like a scary paper!

At that point you might as well adopt "write down the everything you know about a subject" strategy, in the hope of getting more then zero points!

Are you sure she was awake? It's hard to imagine that you wouldn't at that point just try and do some questions.

Oooh sorry for randomly commenting on ACCA exams!

So how long till the exams?

I agree, I'd always try and have a go, they don't give negative marks. So if you've done any revision at all you might as well write down what you can remember.

    I think they're early June.

Thanks PGM, I'll see how I find them when I get there! I think there's so much to learn already though, but hopefully I'll manage to remember some of it by the time I get to the professional papers. Aww poor girl at the P2 paper, that must be awful to be in an exam without a clue what to put. But like you said, it's always worth putting something down and hoping - that's what I did in my F8 paper anyway!

Rinske, the exams start on June 6th.

Thanks, it is certainly living up to its nickname! I think I'm getting to grips with it though.

If anything, I've probably concentrated too much on P2 and neglected P1, so I'm starting to panic about that now.

I haven't found the Professional level to be as hard as I expected to (yet!)

There was a lad sitting by me in the F4 Law exam who just put his hood up and appeared to go to sleep about halfway through the exam!

I think F8 should be named the beast. I have never known a paper to be as horrifyingly hard to study for as this. I really find it a joke that these papers should be as difficult as they make them especially if you are studying at home. They put so much in the text book that you cannot understand and revision courses are anything but:( I have got a BPP question day coming soon and I damn well hope that helps me because I am sick off this wretched paper and everything associated with it.

    Rant over.

Its funny you say that, I concentrated too much on P2 and failed P1. Its the only exam during AAT & ACCA that I failed.

Out of the two its was definitely P2 I wanted out of the way, P1 isn't really too bad and I got a big pass on the second attempt. But don't make the mistake I did!

I would say that P1 sits at odds with the other professional papers in that it is a gentle introduction to them - then P2 hits you like a brick wall!

Although I enjoyed P2 it was without doubt the hardest paper to study for during the whole qualification with P6 (or 3.2 as it was when I took it) a close second!

I felt there was a jump between professional papers and fundamental papers but it certainly wasn't insurmountable with hard work and good tuition!

    Good luck to all

I think you'll find it's pretty standard for ACCA papers.

The qualification is a standard for a reason. Would you prefer that they make them easy so anyone can pass?

Then you have picked the wrong revision courses - I did one at BPP for P2 and it was invaluable

I attended a BPP revision course for F4 (law), and totally agree with you - I honestly don't think that I would have passed the exam without it.

It was the sheer quantity of stuff you had to learn for p2, and the hardness of it. Shame in a way, we'd have got more benefit if it'd been split into two modules.

If people are really struggling with early papers, they really will with the P papers...

I studied with Kaplan, I really couldn't fault them!
