Steve Collings audit book

I have reached the end of my patience with the Kaplan book as I don't understand it and I am looking at buying the book onauditing by Steve Collings and wondered if anyone else had bought this to help them study and if it's worth using as a study book or if it's more for qualified people. I can't get any free samples of it or any descriptions.
Anything hasgot to be better than Kaplan books.

I have the book which retails at £65.
If you want to pass the auditing exam you need to understand the Kaplan or BPP books, if you can't understand them I don't think Steve's book will help (excellent though it is).
Steve's book deals with the auditing standards but the BPP or Kaplan books deal with the whole syllabus.0 -

The Kaplan books are very difficult to follow and understand.
I am going to order BPP as I am on a question day with them. I am gettingdesparate because the exam is so near. I just thought Steves book would give me the knowledge that I need which I can't get from Kaplans

Please do not take this suggestion in any way patronising, but have you thought of the ...for Dummies range of books? They do an Auditing one (per following link on Amazon):

For £13.99 it is worth a try to get the basics under your belt - then you can go back to the Kaplan book for further reading.
If you still do not understand, perhaps try a different paper in December, and have a break from the auditing one. If you then have problems with different papers then maybe have a rethink on the ACCA route and all the misery that you are enduring - life is too short.

The gripe I have with students relying on publications like audit books is that they are quickly out of date. Students should ensure they have approved material and not something that isn't really geared towards the subject they are studying for.0

The only problem with this book is that it's American so it's based on American auditing rules which may not be the same as UK rules.0 -

I think I may have recommended this before, but the previous F8 examiner has written an auditing book, (in the similar style of Clare Finch's IFRS book), it doesn't cover the entire syllabus, but is easy to understand, and written for students.
Just search for Alan Lewin on Amazon.0
