Payroll please help

Hello everyone,

I need to work out tax code 653L. Can someone please advice me how to work out tax on 17,261.44 payment per annum. NIC Table letter A.

Is there a tax rebate or Tax Credit on this yearly income.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Helen,

    If this is a payroll issue then tax credits are not relevant. They are payable directly to the beneficiary and generally only a tax adviser will get involved in determining if their client has an entitlement.

    Have you remembered what a tax code represents and how to convert it into the amount you need to work with? Also have you accessed the HMRC rates and limits booklet, E12 (2011), yet?

    Also, I'd be interested in why you are posing the question, are you studying?
