Hey guys

i hope that all of you r in the best of ur health and mood. i am a bit confused, i have completed my AAT and got my first professional job as an assistant accountant, the salary is good but there is nothing learn much its like data entry. i want to pursue further studies at uni do my accounting and finance degree, upon the completion of this degree i will be exempted from all the F papers, and also if i miss uni this time then i will never go to uni because of the new fees system, but some pple say stick with the job and do ACCA some say its better to go to uni and finish ur degree and work and finish ACCA. i personally wanna go to uni coz i only have three sems to do if i start in Jan (by the way i m 24 now, so by the time i finish my degree will be 26) but i dont like to study part time, coz then u dont have the social life at evening and i think that my be later in my life i will regret that i should have gone to uni, although i m struggling financialy at the moment.

all comments are welcome, what should i do and does my age will b a factor in future if i go to uni the uni is one of the bottem one in ranking

Doesn't make sense to give up a "well paid job", to go to uni, only to then be searching for a similar job at the end. Just look at the amount of qualified people looking for jobs now!

Also doing a degree and then ACCA seems a long route and will eat more into your social time.

Why not do ACCA or similar with just one exam per sitting, if you don't want to lose too much social time?

    thanks for ur replied.

but you know there is nothing much to learn, apart from using sage and though i can show on my CV that i have been working in the office at blahhh blahhh.... position i think that's all. but again even if i start ACCA and do one paper at one sitting dont you think its will take me ages to finish, also the working enviorment here is not really good, everyone seem to be so confused what they r doing and so scared coz if u ask them somthing and u make mistake then they will think that they are the one who gonna take the blame

I agree with PGM it's a long winded way of doing ACCA, you've already got most of the exemptions that a degree would give you anyway. You'd just be delaying things for the duration of the degree and getting yourself into debt when you could be earning and getting your ACCA qual. Even if the job you're in isn't very good it's still better than no job and you can always move on once you've built up some experience and got a few ACCA exams under your belt.

    Thanks Coojee,

You know I haven’t really got the academic qualification, so that one of the reason and second l like numbers but I don’t wanna stay ther for ever, maybe later in my career if I live with the grace of God I may wanna to finance not typical accounting so that why (i.e. MBA or MSc Accounting and Finance). Or what about part time Uni still will get a degree and as well as getting experience at work. Coz my future plan is to go overseas, and you know people may value UK university degree rather than ACCA that what I think.

I'm sorry Shab, but you seem to have made your mind up to one side already, even though adviced differently here.

Are you still considering this or did you mase up your mind already?

As for the travelling, if you do ACCA there is an option, I think, to get a uni degree on the side with just a little extra work.

Also there is nothing against doing an MBA or similar after you did the ACCA study, but personally I wouldn't waste the years in the uni if you could use those to do ACCA and gain work experience.

    What Rinske said!

But if going to Uni will make you a lot happier then do that, and forget trying to justify it.
