I am really considering buying the book written by Steve Collings on auditing so I can get s better understanding to help me in my job search. I've looked at it on Amazon and it's 650 pages long! Is it like a text book or similar? Is it for students or auditors in real life? The book doesn't have any sample chapters for review like others do and I want to know what I am buying before I do.

    Hello Glynis

I have a copy of Steve's book as I am subject specialist for audit at BPP. It's not a text book but a very good, comprehensive publication on the new ISAs. It really is a good book and has some really good feedback on the back of the book from people who work in practice.
If you are considering practice as a job then yes it's for you because it contains all the ISAs but it's also has a good summary of the IFRS/IAS, model accounts and typical audit tests.
I think you can get sample chapters from the publishers site here

if you go to the right of the screen.

Good luck in your job search.
