just had word from my employer, they are not going to fund me
they say my job does not need that level of qualification.
so now trying to register on the cima website and they are experiencing difficulties, now have to wait to 10 my time to phone them, need to be registered bu friday.
so now i am self funding, which is the best and possibly the cheapest provider? i was going to be doing it through kaplan for £245 for E1 and F1 but is there anything cheaper out there? or does anyone have any books they might want to sell onto me?
thanks

Hi sorry to hear that, my employer was not even willing to pay for the AAT I had to fund it myself, at least when all is done you can take your qualification to an employer that appreciates your potential0

thanks, one positive is that when i eventually leave this job, i wont owe them any money

Nice employers...
Cheapest just buying the books!0 -

Shame your employer doesn't realise that it might help them grow or gives an option for internal promotion later on!
As for study:
Personally I prefer the BPP books over the others, but that's personal preference and I haven't seen the new official books yet!
If you're worried about the cost, I would suggest to go at it alone by buying the books, and possibly to look at some question based day/ revision course or maybe even just the exam option that BPP offers where you just do one practice exam and they give you feedback on it.
I found with CIMA it seems a lot get stuck on how you answer questions, so you might want to consider taking a question based day or practice exam over any of the others.0 -
Sorry to hear your employer won't fund your CIMA studies.
I am waiting to see if I can get my Unit 10 project result updated in time to apply for exemptions to enter the November exams, if not it will be may.
In the past I have found that AAT books were cheapest from premier training.

However I brought the CIMA certificate books (to do some extra reading before CIMA) through UKPaperbackshop on Amazon which was the cheapest I could find.

sorry to hear about it Taskey - good luck with your studies and like you say, at least you won't be obligated to them.0

thanks claire, have just looked at those, £115 for a home study package, seems the best so far as it seems like a complete package.
professional Level (E1 - F3): Elsevier Study Text, Elsevier Exam Practice Kit, BPP iLearn CD,Elsevier Revision Cards, Access to Premier Training website and email tutor support.
so i a now swayed towards this one

Im also self funding CIMA. My work gave me a choice of they fund it or I can have a payrise. Don't know how much yet but figure a payrise stays with me even if I take a break from studies in the future.
Im trying it with CIMA online. They do there own self study online program with tutor support by email. It costs £150 per module inc VAT plus the other study costs inc exam fees etc.
I might buy the books as well as sometimes I prefer thumbing through a book to sitting at a pc.
Mind you that package looks good so might look at that after this one.
You also have to send your AAT L4 Cert to them by the 31st to register for November exams but can do this by email like I did last night
Good Luck Tracey.

Just remembered with the CIMA online course if you recommend a friend you both get up to 25% off your next module. (will have to double check the details on this).0

Have now registered and emailed them my level 4 certificate for my exemptions.
i have gone through premier for £115, have only bought e1 so far to see what it is like, will keep you in mind for the f1 if i want to do it through someone else

Good luck with your studies :001_smile:
It would be interesting to hear how you find your studies and your course material.

thanks everyone for your help today

Thats great that you have gone for it Tracey,
Let me know how you find the premier course please. Im doing F1 first as its likely to be my hardest subject due to me working in industry.

Hi,
Does it have to be CIMA ?
I managed to pass ACCA F5, using a book from Ebay and the free Open Tution lectures.
I did the same with Tax and am now awaiting results...(I bought this year's BPP revision kit, as there are changes - think it was £15)0 -
thanks for that, i have now registered with cima - unfortunatley i cant sit exams for acca out in germany which is why i have chosen cima

Apparently you can win study support for CIMA, but there are some rules!
Not sure if it will help you and if it is applicable to you, but might be worth checking out?
