I am back studying this blasted paper again. I went to an open day at BPP and discussed why I keep failing it so it's looking like my technique is letting me down:(
Anyway I'm going to work on that but does anyone know if the syllabus is changing or if I can still use the books I have got?
I'm going on a couple of days course so that might help. So far I have printed off all the papers but I can't find any articles on the site. Does anyone know where they are located.
I'm really fed up with this exam.

Hello Glynis
Sorry to hear you failed F8 but look forward, dust yourself down and get on with a positive attitude for December 11!
I no longer teach F8 at BPP as I teach P7 but I do not think you will have problems using the books. If you look on the ACCA website you will find details of any syllabus changes. Also if you click on F8 paper and then click on technical articles you will find the articles in there. You need to read the examiner's approach article as this will give you insight as to how she examines the paper. There are also 2 articles recently written by the paper F8 assessor, Steve Collings on subsequent events and audit sampling so you must make sure you read these as well.
If your technique is letting you down then it seems you have a head start on this paper as you must have the knowledge sewn up, so you should eb able to dive straight into past papers. Your tutor at BPP at the revision phase will go through exam technique for you - did you get on the free courses which we are offering?
I am pleased you are attending a BPP course , which centre are you at? I might see you as I work at BPP.0 -
Thank you for your advice Julia. I think I might be going to Shepherds Bush but I'm not confirmed yet.
I have found the articles and will read them as you suggest.
I am so fed up with this paper. It is nothing like the AAT audit paper I sat and I just don't know what ACCA want from you to pass it. I also have an interview on Wednesday for an audit role in practice so I just hope they don't ask me about this paper0 -
Aww Glynis, you will get through in December I'm sure. Our London tutors are lovely and whoever you get for F8 will guide you on the right path to success.
Wait until you get onto day 1 of the taught phase before you start hard core study because the tutor will take you through a logical way of studying for F8. He or she will also explain what the examiner is looking for and give you plenty of advice about exam technique. Exam technique is as important as technical knowledge and even students who work in audit often fail F8 and P7 because of poor technique, not the technical knowledge.
Tutors alone cannot get you through the exam, you have to meet us halfway as well, so be sure to read around the subject. At BPP we tend only to use the text books when students struggle on a certain area. It's important to read on current issues, read the examiners article, or assessor articles, definitely read examiner reports because these tend to focus on reasons for failure.
It's important to have a structured study plan which you stick to also. If you work on that now and stick to it over the next few months that will put you on the road to success.
Good luck also in your interview.

Hi Glynis,
I would like to wish you best of luck as well.
I have seen past posts where you have had a few niggles and think its lovely that you are picking yourself up and your whole attitude seems much more positive.
Jobs are few and far between at the moment whether qualified or not. My partner is struggling to find another role as he is a qualified printer but after being made redundant a couple of years back before I knew him has been working at a place thats not the best.
If you carry on with your positive attitude it will pay off in the end. Its hard taking knock back after knock back but accepting your own faults and working to improve them will pay.
I've never commented on any of your posts in the past because I don't believe in getting tied up in slanging matches but I do feel its about time you had some positive comments after you seem to be making a real effort.
All the best with your studies and job hunting and fingers crossed
