I like the BPP books over the Kaplan books, I also prefer them over the other ones that CIMA Study offers, but that's personal preference.

I haven't studied either last weekend, mainly because of sheer exhaustion of another week of crap being thrown at me and I do think it will be just P1 for me for November. However, I still don't feel happy about that and still want to try both units.

As for the study, I really thought I was ok on F1 and I used my notes on DFS and completed them with the added stuff that I found in F1. I then started on the questions and that's where I got stuck.

I think a lot is the sheer volume and you will get there! Just stick with it and keep at it. Make notes where you get confused and do as many questions as possible!

    Thanks,

Cima study starts with all the dull bits which I think is whats throwing me.

    It will sink in eventually:)

Am truddling along sort of nicely.

Got to the actual calculation type questions on the CIMA online F1 so understanding it alot better now lol

Think I might go back to learning from the text books as reading the text book I have seemed to sink in better. Mind you it started on a different bit which was business tax which I enjoyed at AAT so that could be part of it.

I have put the last entry date for exams in my diary so I can decide then if im going to enter or not................November seems so close *gulp gulp*

    Whats E1 all about Tracy?

    Best of luck Slackda

At least it sounds a bit more interesting than the foundations of the IASB etc etc etc.

Then again Managing relationships sounds like AAT unit 10 *gulp*

I'm sure you'll catch up Esme!
I also really hope you passed E1 this time around!

I just signed up for my P1 exam today and now I somehow find the time to study, because so far I have hardly found any time at all yet.

Tell me about it, I keep saying I really need to get an hour in of study and then things just get on top of me like cooking dinner, preparing lunches etc etc.

I need to get back into the routines I had with AAT. Im considering starting to stay late at work so I can fit an hour in while my minds still in work mode.

Really need to get up the courage to enter the exam too. That would force me on a bit. Have any of you been on the CIMA forums yet? They don't seem to be as popular as this one or maybe thats just the subject i've looked at.

    Thanks Rinske.

I haven't been on the CIMA forums, wouldn't know where to find them!

My BPP online learning community has a forum which is ok, not as good as this one though.

I've been on the forums, tried a few groups and so on, but AAT forums are far better!

There just doesn't seem to be a lot of activity and most questions are answered by admins. I did try to go there daily for a while, to see if it was just a matter of keeping up, but gave up on it and haven't been there since the exam results have been released.

I haven't even registered with the CIMA forum yet. Doesn't seem to be much point at the moment seeing how it doesnt have much use.

Esme its called CIMAsphere if you google that it should come up with a link for you. I have no idea how to post links im afraid.

Just copy and paste the link. No fancy stuff required on the AAT forums, as they like it to be easy to use... Unlike the CIMA ones...

I made written notes for E1, but afterwards just used the books to find stuff back. Mainly because my notes didn't contain all the names of the theories and so on.

I'm now taking P1 and making an effort to create one A5 page summaries for each chapter. Still only at chapter 8 though, if I don't find some way to get some study time in soon, I'll be still going through the chapters after the exam!

I tend to make notes which involve copying most of the book out as I go along if its a topic I am stuck on. I find writing it out helps it get into my head. To be honest at AAT level I didnt' refer back to my notes but used the revision booklet Kaplan did and re-read my study books.

I am lucky to be a fast "skim" reader and it doesnt take me long to take back in information if i've studied it hard enough to begin with.

Kaplan do some revision cards for CIMA. I've brought the F1 ones and they seem very good on a first flix through. Nice and bright colours good diagrams etc.

I did say I wouldn't use Kaplan again as they were hopeless at tuition support for my distance learning AAT but the materials I have to admit are excellent. I've brought the book, revision cards and exam practice kit in addition to my online CIMA study course.

I don't bother with notes any more but when I get to the revision phase I make revision cards with key notes on them, and laminate some A4 sheets with theories and put around my room.

Forgot about the re-papering the dining room with notes and calculations during revision time. I'm not as fancy as you esme with laminating. I just print off in large print and bluetack everywhere. It does help it to sink in.

Thought I would put it black and white so it sinks in......I have registered for my F1 exam in November.......arghh that should motivate me to continue with the study.

Im currently looking at Construction Contracts and I have to say its taking a while to sink in. Does anyone have any tips for remembering the format for extracts from the financial statements? Im ok with the theory I can see how they work just keep messing up on the actual workings and having everything in the right place.
