Hi all,

After just over 2 years of complete torture, pain, hard work and a complete loss of social life I have completed the
ACA qualification after doing the AAT - ACA fast track.

Can anyone answer me the following:

1) After my name would I put ACA and MAAT!!??

2) Do I need/want to pay membership fees for both bodies??

I am proud of doing AAT as well so don't want to just drop MAAT from my name if I don't have too!

Thanks in advance for responses. It would be great to hear from other people who have the same as I have no idea what I need to do know in terms of applying for ACA membership and how it may affect my MAAT status etc!.

Regards

J

    Congratulations!

As long as you are a member of both the ICAEW and AAT, you can use both sets of letters. I dropped my AAT membership after gaining my CIMA as my company will only pay for one membership and I was getting all I needed from CIMA wthout the additional cots of AAT membership. But, that's a personal choice and up to you...

    First off, congratulations!

As the exam results were only released on Friday evening, I take it you have not yet submitted the required paperwork to the ICAEW to confirm you have completed the required number of technical work experience days to entitle you to membership. Therefore, at the moment, you cannot use the letters ACA after your name.

Once you have the required number of days, have submitted the paperwork signed by your QPRT and paid the fees (£825 when I qualified) it should not take long for you to be admitted to membership (assuming you have also completed IPD). Then you can use the letters ACA MAAT.

Whether you continue to pay your AAT subs is for you to decide. I have kept mine, and for such a small cost per year, I cannot see me giving this up. I am as proud of my MAAT status as I am of my ACA status - I worked hard for both.

Wow, what a fantastic achievement! Congratulations! I hope you take a well deserved break! x

Personally I would keep both, afterall you worked hard for both and they are both excellent qualifications and yes unfortunately you would need to pay both member fees if you wish to use the letters by your name.

    Hi guys,

thanks very much for the nice comments.

I have sent off all the IPD, work experience etc this morning so hopefully will get admission soon.

I have just renewed AAT membership so will review the situation next year, but as it is a small fee I will probably keep it.
